Economic Security - stop funding cuts & restore discretionary budgets, fund workers until degree completion, expand health and dependent care coverage, & investing in B’more transit, including transit passes
Collective Safety - abolish the Johns Hopkins Police Department, prioritize international workers’ protection through tax, visa, and OIS office resource expansion, amend arbitrary OPT/CPT policies, commit to non-police alternatives against ICE
Union Power - cease and desist all retaliatory investigations into the union, end unit erosion, no surveillance or harassment for political activism, no dismissal without due process, respect our CBA (collective bargaining agreement)
Picketing is a protected labor action, and TRU is committed to keeping our communities safe. Masks will be required and provided at the picket. We will also have trained marshals and de-escalators to secure the picket line and support demonstrators. Fix-It Fair is a FREE, family friendly event hosted by the Station North Tool Library and open to the public. At Fix-It Fair, you’ll get help from experienced volunteers making common repairs on clothes, furniture, leather items, bikes, etc.
Register for the event! This helps us prep tools and consumables, screen for items that aren't a good fit, and set up volunteers for success. While registration is strongly preferred; drop-ins are welcome. All participants will need to check-in their items on site.
Arrive by 2 pm. 2 Items max per person.
We are partnering with the Department of Public Works (DPW) and will be offering Textile & Electronics recycling again! Drop off your item the day of until 3 pm.
Textiles – Donate clothes, linens, or rags you no longer need. Reusable items will be sorted and sent to thrift partners, while non-reusable items will be recycled into materials like insulation or industrial wiper rags. More information on textile recycling here.
Electronics – Bring old electronics like phones, printers, controllers, and TVs. They will be dismantled to recover valuable materials, and harmful substances like mercury or lead will be safely removed and disposed of. More information on electronics recycling here.

roots / جذور: From Baltimore to Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran brings together artists and organizers at the Compound in Baltimore for a two-day public festival of art, music, and educational workshops. On Saturday, April 11, between 5 – 9 PM, visual artists will share and sell their work. The evening will also feature free live performances by Ami Dang and Konjur Collective. On Sunday, April 12, between 12 – 3 PM, organizations United Workers, Baltimore Artists Against Apartheid, Malaya Baltimore, and Anakbayan UMBC will offer workshops and teach-ins related to organizing, arts, archives, and the ongoing struggle for Palestinian liberation. The events on both days will be broadcast live by Transceiver Radio.
All participating artists and vendors will independently donate a portion of their proceeds to ongoing mutual aid efforts in these countries.

Breaking the ICE: Lessons from the resistance in Minnesota

In April, anarchists from the Twin Cities who have participated in resisting the ICE occupation there will travel the country speaking on their experiences. At each presentation, they will share what they have learned from building rapid response networks, explore how Minnesota thwarted Operation Metro Surge, and draw out lessons about how to defeat fascism. On April 4th at 6:30 PM they will be speaking at The Compound in Baltimore.

Under Siege: Militarization of Baltimore Schools

Join BAP Baltimore Citywide Alliance and Baltimore PSL as we explore the history of public education in Baltimore City, and how youth are criminalized in increasingly militarized schools, and in the city at large.
As an internal colony, Baltimore City is highly surveilled, highly militarized, and highly occupied. It has one of the highest police-per-capita rates in the country and is the most policed city in Maryland. Baltimore, in particular, is the only district in Maryland that has its own school police force. Despite crumbling infrastructure in city schools, the Baltimore City School Police Force is a unique offshoot of the Baltimore City Police Department that directly receives millions of dollars from Baltimore City Public Schools.
