@coatilex @kaibojens @StefanMuenz @sl007 and it isn't even that clear Bluesky is ahead of Mastodon if we're looking at German or European users, certainly less so than the total active would suggest because Mastodon is just much more EU-centric in its userbase.

According the periodically posted stats (see #BlueskyStats) the total weekly users posting in German is only a bit over 40k on Bluesky.

Weekly post/user language stats for @[email protected] again - only little changes from the last time I checked, within one % point basically and no positions changed. Very slight increases in user counts, only FR and NL gained more users. #BlueskyStats

Latest language stats #BlueskyStats: no big changes, except the absolute values falling a bit again. No. of users posting in Farsi fell a lot for obvious reasons :(

Bluesky falls below 5 million monthly active users, marking a 67% decline

Almost exactly one year after peaking at 15.12 million monthly active users, Bluesky’s long-running decline has pushed the platform below 5 million MAUs. The latest figures show a loss of about two-thirds of its peak user base.

Interesting… so the Bridgy PDS is huge in terms of total accounts (like 10x all self-hosted), but in terms of *active* accounts (DAU etc.), the number of users bridged from Mastodon is only 3x more 🧐 Which means the green can realistically overtake the blue here in the coming months… #BlueskyStats

Updated language #BlueskyStats for last week: Turkish went down at lot now (~ 50% fewer weekly users than week before) and dropped below French, although it's still quite a lot

#BlueskyStats language update: Turkish went up to the #6 place and stays there for now. There were 72 thousands (!) of Turkish speaking users active last week, which is more than those writing in Spanish or Portuguese! (Also, there were slightly more ES posters than PT ones now). Russian is also up.
