After almost a year from buying a place in the #BlueRidgeMountains, we finally had a #datenight. I promise you that there is nothing like living in a small town and supporting small business owners. 🏡
Living slow, dining local, and drinking something strong (yes, #moonshine) under #Appalachian skies. Around here, the sunsets stop traffic, everybody knows your name, and the stories get better after dark. Small town life may not move fast but it sure knows how to live. I am so fortunate. The sunsets are pretty fabulous too!
Also, how cool is it that I'm standing in the middle of the road to take this picture. 😁

Took Mom and Dad up on the Blue Ridge Parkway today. It´s hard for them to do a lot of walking, but they loved the trillium, wild geraniums, dogwoods, and native pink azaleas all blooming at different elevations along the road and overlook paths.

#FallingSpringFalls is another great Virginia waterfall. While I usually prefer a good hike in to a secluded falls, it´s nice this one is easily accessible to anyone right off US220.

Another #lichen photo I took back in 2002 with my #NikonCoolPix5000 for #TextureTuesday.
There was so many different types of cool rocks with lichen growing on them in the #BlueRidgeMountains.

#Dallas glowing like a circuit board beneath the wing tonight ✨
But the best part of the journey is what comes next. Heading #home to the quiet ridges of #Appalachia and my beloved Tiger Mountain, where the lights grow fewer, the stars grow brighter, and the #Appalachian mountains are my home. Did I mention the #BabySharks? 🐶
Big city below, Blue Ridge ahead.
Homeward bound. 💕#DallasFromAbove #AppalachiaBound #BlueRidgeMountains #AncestryRoads #MountainHome @Appalachian

The losses keep coming, each one testing my strength. Today my uncle passed away — just over a month after losing my dad, his brother. It feels heavy, but I will keep going.
But I’m still here. Still breathing. Still choosing to look for small things to hold onto.
1. Dad and my uncle are no longer separated by illness or time.
2. I am stronger than I feel in the middle of the night.
3. I am not walking through this completely alone.
Bonus: This sunrise on the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the images in my “filmstrip in my head” — the kind I think about when I wake in the night. It reminds me that light returns, and with it comes quiet gratitude and hope for the day ahead.#3GoodThings #Grief #LifeAfterLoss #OneDayAtATime #FindingLight #ThreeGoodThings #virginia #blueridgemountains
