Blue Prince: Every Day is a Mystery With Puzzles Galore 🟦

Okay, we’re not big puzzle adventure game addicts but Blue Prince was critically acclaimed upon its 2025 launch. By indie devs Dogubomb in California, it’s available on all consoles and PC.

The game won Outstanding Achievement for an Independent Game and is considered one of the best games of 2025. We put on our Sherlock Holmes outfit and plunged into this SOB with gusto, for it is an innovative time of it.

So Many Bloody Puzzles in Blue Prince

The game is set in a mansion and players are tasked with exploring it. Puzzlers like this demand a lot from players. You have to go into the game and work stuff out yourself, often with the clues provided, but a lot of the time there’s random head scratching to be had.

But the amazing thing about Blue Prince is how each room changes every day, with 45 of them to explore.

It’s a geek’s paradise as it’s a labyrinth maze of secrets. You take control of Simon P. Jones and head into Mt. Holly Estate (a mansion) to claim your inheritance. Your one goal is to reach Room 46 but, BY JOVE, you need a lot of brainpower to get there.

That’s where the rather clever indeed puzzles kick in, with a rotating daily level of room randomness, so you’ll feel a mixture of clever, lost, and idiotic as you attempt to resolve all this guff.

We knew this one was going to be tough, so we went ahead and checked out a beginner’s guide before heading in. Trust us, the below video is very handy indeed.

Yeah, so you actually draft out the rooms you visit. But there are 45 rooms in a grid format, nine rows by five. You must also consider your daily steps in amongst your puzzle solving, as you have a set limit to consider.

Cripes alive, the main thing here is Dogubomb’s Blue Prince is an extraordinarily clever game. A technical marvel in its complexities, this is the sort of game that non-gamers should gawp at and realise the pastime isn’t just about guns and explosions.

Really, we were astonished by its smarts.

We also found its randomness a little bit irritating, as it’s  easy to get stuck and then you can enter into a world of three hours to make a baby step forward. When, technically, you can complete the full game in about 10 hours (if stuff goes well for you).

For sure, we gave up after a bit and watched someone else complete it for us on YouTube. Hurray! That’s not a slight on Blue Prince, it’s just we wanted to experience this critically acclaimed title from a genre we’re not that arsed about.

Plus, we’re just not very good at this type of thing. But it was a joy to experience and, again, a wonderful demonstration of what video games are capable of.

If you’re intrigued, it’s well worth your time exploring its intricacies.

Blue Prince Also Has a Rather Lovely Soundtrack

The game’s lush score is by Dutch musicians Trigg & Gusset who specialise in dark jazz, electronica, and cinematic tension. Our favourite is above in the form of the gorgeous Westwardly Winds.

Their score has a very moody theme to it indeed. One that remains fairly stable across its entire run, so some of the pieces can be somewhat similar.

But as a whole, they all kind of merge together for a relaxing bit of jazz-based ambient excellence. Perfect listening when you’re trying to solve all those mind-bending puzzles.

i thought i was almost at the end of the game, but instead, the mysteries go even deeper...

and here i thought animal well had a lot of puzzles hidden into it

I was going to write a blog post today but then I got stuck playing #BluePrince. The RNG seemed to have sensed that I was sick of it's bullshit and was ready to stop wasting my time on it 😅

#BluePrince Énorme jour 17, où je comprends plusieurs puzzles (ça ne veut pas dire que j’ai pu toujours tester les résolutions mais je sais quoi faire), avec un manoir quasi complet, et où il ne m’a manqué potentiellement que 3 pas pour accéder ce que j’imagine être la 46 ème pièce (ou la 45ème pour accéder à la 46).

C’est vraiment un excellent jeu, si vous êtes prêts à prendre très souvent des notes. (Donc beaucoup d’interruptions)

So far Looking for Fael is very good, but I kinda hope it does not go as deep as Blue Prince.

I need games I can finish rn, not layered mysteries that still wake me up in the middle of the night years later, with new ideas to try and a collection of notes the size of a pocket book. 🙏

What was the last genuinely interesting game you played?

For me it was Blue Prince. That game had me hooked for days, writing clues out on paper. It is quite unique and very fun.

Just seems like there are so many games coming out now and none of them are particularly interesting. Ai Slop

 I think this was a major issue for last year's #BluePrince. I think they've got their with regards to colourblind settings, but it still took them the best part of a year.

Had a bit of a break through in #BluePrince 👍 got a feeling I’ve done stuff in the wrong order 🤔

I've been playing #BluePrince. I want to like it, but I really can't. It takes 5 minutes to figure out a puzzle and then 2 hours to generate the components to complete it. Physically hiding keys in the rooms is awful too. I have to look all around the same rooms over and over or my run gets cut-off prematurely. That is the opposite of fun. Interesting puzzles, absolutely no respect for the players time.
