We've just been binge watching the third series of Blue Lights.... (having recently re-watched series 1 & 2 in preparation)....
You may have seen some reviews suggesting it was off the boil... well, that's really very much not the case.
But the really key thing is the second three episodes (4-6) are directed by erstwhile actress Angela Griffen & she has done a brilliant job; its the arrival of a major directorial talent.
Watch the series & you will not be disappointed!

Just re-watching Blue Lights (we've finished season one, just about to start season two) in advance of season three... and since I watched it the first time round I had forgotten how good it is; makes you realise how lame so much police-based/crime-based drama is.
If you've not seen Blue Lights I cannot recommend it highly enough; it really is quality, engaging, humane TV that packs a punch.
Its on BBC IPlayer in the UK (and I believe via AppleTV abroad).

Blue Lights Season 2 was fantastic too, for much the same reasons as the first season.
Brilliant characters, strong story, fantastic acting.
Season 2 focused more on the loyalist side of the divide. Some of the scenes and stories were just so powerful - especially the subplots exploring the actions of Special Branch during the war. Deeply moving.
Really enjoyed this show, one of the best things I've watched this year. Hope it returns for a third season next year.

Finished season 1 of Blue Lights. It was great.
A 'bobbies on the beat' style police drama. Set in Belfast, so some of the themes have a strong post-civil war undertone, with many of the population in certain (republican) areas being strongly anti-police.
The characters were brilliant, the acting fantastic, the storylines powerful and engaging and moving, with a dark sense of humour.
Great stuff. Onto season 2 now.

Garbage, and I have no idea why the BBC promote it. That said, they keep commissioning Mrs Brown's Boys which is total f* garbage.
Want to watch totally predictable crap? Have at it.
Otherwise enjoy watching a sunset. Or flowers. Or paint dry.
