  1. The Texas Bluebonnet - We’re dusting off this fan-favorite article to inspire you for the next bluebonnet season. Learn why these rock-hard seeds need a little "tough love" to bloom, why 8 hours of sun is the magic number, and how a half-eaten cantaloupe can be your best organic pest control. 🍈#blacklandprairie #blacklandprairiechapter #Bluebonnets #GaryHowerton #STT69 #TexasBluebonnet #Lupinustexensis #Texaslupine

  2. Saw my first bluebonnets of the season, growing wild at the curb of my office park. Pretty!

  4. 6.8km river walk on Tuesday on some new-to-us parts of the trail.

It was cloudy and windy (32+kmph, 20+mph), but it was great to see wildflowers blooming everywhere. The bluebonnets especially are having a great year.

I was lucky to get a sun break in the clouds just over a patch of bluebonnets. (1)

Also lucky to be able to get so close to the flowers (2, 3).

  6. The plan today was to shoot the requisite annual horses’n’bluebonnets pix. Unfortunately it rained all weekend so Noly (the grey) was covered in indelible red mud stains, and Teddy (the black) still had a big green glitter shamrock on his butt from St Paddy’s that wouldn’t come off. Ted refused to stand still in the bloob patch, and Noly kept tryin’ to bite him. Furthermore, the girls complained, their outfits clashed; they just weren’t vibin’ with all these equestrian glamour-don’ts. But I managed to sneak in this snapshot, which I love because Ted’s totally giving Angelina Jolie Leg* and there is a bit of bluebonnet in the background #Horses #Bloomscrolling #Bluebonnets

  8. Bluebonnets
    Llano County, TX

I have been reliably informed, by @RainyDayWoman and others, that the Bluebonnets (lupines) are now blooming in south and central Texas.

This photo from nearly 20 years ago shows a roadside field in the Hill Country. Taken with my then new 5.1 Megapixel Olympus wide zoom camera (an upgrade from a 2 Mp Epson.)

  11. The wildflowers have been spectacular this spring. Here, a couple of bluebonnets (Lupinus texenis) are visited by a winecup (Callirhoe involucrata). And some Indian paintbrush (Castilleja indivisa), my personal favorite, keep company with a prickly pear cactus.

  12. Lulu, our hot-headed, melodramatic half-Arab, sublimating her customary Exotic Opinions On Things into an uncomplicated contemplation of fragrant bluebonnets.

  13. Article on #Texas #Bluebonnets blossoming a month early. Climate skeptics get their bone with the inclusion of a sentence about "radiant heat from concrete" causing earlier blooms. axios.com/local/san-antonio/20
