I saw some posts bridged from #BlueSky the other day and out of curiosity made an account to look around. Immediately I was blasted with amerocentric political content. It almost looks like an official social platform of the Democratic Party. 😅

This reflection by @elettrona and the discussion that followed are insightful. They raise an important question about the #Fediverse: Can we call a space diverse and inclusive if people with different needs or perspectives are treated as a problem when they challenge the community’s prevailing norms?
I recently started using Bluesky more on my personal account and have found a lot of content that I can't find here: Brazilian politics, Brazilian journalists and activists who tried the Fediverse but aren't active there anymore for various reasons, scientific topics, arts, and more.
I know people whose work and perspectives I value who tried the Fediverse but preferred Bluesky.
Should we create separate bubbles, or should we build bridges between people who prefer different networks but share the goal of finding alternatives to platforms controlled by tech oligarchs?
