Once again I have avian visitors with unusual colouring. These are all male king parrots. Food was spread, but the king parrots all followed the bowl that's supposed to be the second sitting for latecomers...
Birds are great. 😁

Moments after this shot, the goshawk flew off with the body of its prey dangling—a brown cuckoo-dove. No pic, it waited till my phone was in my pocket & I'd started to turn away. 🤣
I've seen a few goshawks hunting brown cuckoo-doves—they seem to find them tasty, or other birds are better at escaping.

I also finished building my weekend office space. In case you haven’t been following closely, I am REALLY enjoying owning my home again, after 7 years renting. #bluemountains

That’s a kaffir lime that I’m watering in. This is the east-facing wall of the house, and it’s going to be the citrus garden. I’ve already added mandarin to the lemon that was here and is full of fruit.
I’m hoping the warmth from the bricks will power these plants through the afternoons. We’ll see. #GardeningAustralia #bluemountains -
Not again? Yes, but different. Today I rode Snaitches, (St H, St Helena firetrail) to Lost World & Bunyan lookouts. St H runs off the Oaks & is an out and back ride. A thru hike a bike is possible, but NPWS asked us not to ride that section, so I don't. Besides, it's a bastard climb out carrying a light bike, let alone a heavy eMTB.
Mostly little used, narrow firetrail, it changes to dual track towards the end, then very overgrown singletrack to the lookouts. 1/2

Agai-ain?
Yeah, I Oaksed it. Slightly faster down, slightly slower up. I definitely felt it more than last time, probably because I pushed in the singletrack, hitting my max HR there. So downhill/flattish was where I worked hardest. 🤷 Too much fun is barely enough. 😎
Day total 53.7km, 2hrs24
Max HR 159
Max jump haha, no, I didn't jump 18m, hanging for 1.86s, Mr Garmin. WTF?
Ascent 1168m
People 30 riders, 10 walkers Sunday...Blessed *"silence"* continues 😁

Over 50 plants in here now. I’ll probably stop fairly soon. Maybe.

Several of you have recommended the old "give your friendly local moss a drink of water before the photo shoot" technique. Thank you, I like the results. But I think I won't always be patient enough to stand around for 15 minutes :) #mosstodon #BlueMountains

Both local(ish) bike shops were closed, so I went for a creak. Sekrit singletrack, & a side hunt for old faves Twister, Junkyard, & Postie Pass. Alas, only portions remain of once very popular riding, with a number of built features & a car rollover lost to time.
The currently maintained tracks are fun, if a little tight on longer bikes (mine). I grabbed a small tree for balance one hairpin, & we both fell over! 😂 There's blood in the pic! Tis but a scratch, etc

Well... OK... It was *alright.*😁
I rode the Oaks. I'm not sure if I've mentioned riding this track before.🙄 I had fun, but my bike turned into Sir Creaksalot on the way home. To be diagnosed. Temp was fine. 🙄
Progress! Quicker again, & I wasn't a wreck when I got home. My legs still work. Sure, Es helped, but the hills are getting easier.
Usual Oaks stats... Weight a little less. 200km for April—125 this week! 😱 Can I keep this up? 🤔 Ahahaha. No. 🤷

My Blackheathen grandmother and her sister would sigh and reminisce about when the mountains "only had black cockatoos, not these terrible noisy white cockatoos." But the sulphur cresteds are just following the paths carved by people. Wouldn't you eat wheat off the top of a train? And then dig under train tracks for the bits you missed? #birds #WildOz #BlueMountains

Finally spotted a Toyota bZ4x on the road today, GWH #bluemountains. It looks nice in black, kinda hides the ugly fender guards, but is would be forever dusty. Will probably get the grey or red.

Most photographed place in Straya. The Three Sisters rock formation in #Katoomba, NSW. #bluemountains
Heckin' bunch of tourists. Mainly bleary eyed, having just been on buses for some hours.
And one jerkoff with a drone. 🤬

I'm watching Adventures of the Super Monkey—Journey to the West, on Netflix. It's a Japanese show based on the famous Chinese story, & naturally, supposedly set in China. Just before the end credits in S1:E3 roll up...& hang on a minute... [rewinds] surely not... [rewinds] Are they gums? Is that Blueys sandstone? [rewinds] I know that view! That's...that's the now closed Lincoln Rock in Wentworth Falls, just up the road. WTF?

Glorious today, less so tomorrow...
Once again, I ventured to the Lake, but did a new combination of loops & directions.
Once again, it was glorious.
Once again, I nearly talked myself out of it, but only yesterday I was bragging about riding to old mates. I couldn't make a liar out of me!
Just as well I did. Closed for burn off tomorrow!
