  1. We now have to do a new application instead of renewing Blue Badges.
Lots of pages, too much stuff to type in, and the pages time out. They want all my meds, typed in one at a time (33 boxes), all my conditions and how they affect my mobility (24 if I leave out conditions that don't directly affect my mobility), all my walking/mobility aids and when/what I use them for (18), all my medical clinics/doctors etc, (18), and then questions I haven't even got to yet.
Some questions make no sense because they assume I only use one aid or have one condition that never fluctuates.
Why so many? Because each question opens another text box and another.
As if designed to make it harder for disabled people to complete the form.
There is an option to save after filling in a section. SoI did save it yesterday after entering over half the information.
Today it won't let me in, claims to have sent a code but nothing.
No resend option, only phone my council or start again.

  2. Interesting that there are toll exemptions for holders. I wonder how they'll manage that, given that the badge is for a *person*, not a vehicle. You can have a badge without even being able to drive, you can use it in any car you are traveling in - your partner's vehicle, your parents' or your childrens' vehicles, a friend or neighbour's vehicle, a hire car, ... bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c33zdz

  3. Oh good.
The van in one of the disabled spaces at the gym (without a blue badge) has just got a council parking ticket.

  4. In cheerier news I'm virtually walking/driving around the streets of #Perth, ready for tomorrow's trip to hospital there. Still not convinced will try driving into the pedestrian zone after 4pm using my #BlueBadge for a flying visit to Waterstones. Would have to park on a double yellow line! Allowed, but, erm. But I've noted the postcode and street number for our sat nav. Hopefully it all goes vastly better than in the 1990s when we got totally lost driving through Perth heading north! #Scotland

  5. @SkyNews Free parking for blue badge holders in pay-and-display spaces is discretionary, so don't take it for granted. My mother has one for her very visible Parkinsons. #parkinsons #parkinsonsdisease #BlueBadge #BlueBadgeholders #disabledparking

  6. Applied for a disabled Blue Badge now I've got my PIP sorted. Apparently even though you've given them a copy of your PIP award etc it still takes on average 12 weeks to get a Blue Badge!

  7. This entire country does absolutely everything to bend over backwards for drivers, unless you're disabled.

This is appalling that disabled people are still treated like this - for years, plus years since the Board's resignation in protest.

  9. Oh my goodness! My latest #BlueBadge (#disability parking badge) renewal was approved. In just 2 days by #Angus Council! Awarded on discretionary grounds. No mobility assessment needed. They'd said it would take 6-12 weeks or longer. 2 days! Woot! So chuffed. What a relief. I don't get out of the house very much now at all, but when I do it is a phenomenal help to have this badge. Thank you so much #AngusCouncil! #mobility #accessibility #wheelchair

  10. Latest Blue Badge renewal application filled in online and submitted. Fingers crossed! I've been getting these on discretionary grounds from first Dundee City Council and then Angus Council, since 2001. They've always granted them generously. Fingers crossed this latest go works as well. #disability #disabled #mobility #BlueBadge #Dundee #Angus

  11. This article, written before the results, is about the problems disabled people have had with the previous York City Council. Blue Badge parking had been banned from the city centre, initially to do with Covid social distancing. But the temporary ban was made permanent after police guidance to avoid terrorist attacks. This is, of course, incredibly silly. So, hopefully the new council will set things right.

  12. #Twitter restores blue tick to high profile accounts

Twitter restores the verified blue badge to accounts that insist they did not pay for a subscription.

    > but their #credibility is lost, and there really isn’t any doubt to give it a benefit of.

  13. Musk-uitoes are trending on twitter with #paythe8 it's really sad to see how many people sucking up to this pig.

  14. LCC emailed me at 9am to say #BlueBadge needs reapplying for; I’m not magically cured of being #Disabled and in need of it, it is exhausting how many disability related things bring admin with them n the expectancy of cure - stop it!

  15. Don't you just love it when you park in a disabled space, with your blue badge, & because you listen to Rock music and don't dress like Jeremy Clarksons Dad, all the OAPs "tut" & shake thier heads at you in disgust.

It's a Disabled Parking Space not a Gammon Parking Zone. FFS.

    "You don't look disabled!"

Well you don't look stupid, yet here we are!

  16. #Twitter #BlueBadge email #scams – Don’t fall for them! nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2022/

I really can not understand how #Musk can not understand the clear difference between "verified account" and "payed 8 bucks". 🤦‍♂️

  17. @BigTLarrity Or imagine you have some fame and someone else makes an account in your name and pretends to be you just to say horrible things and ruin your reputation or your business.
A verification, like a #blueBadge would be good, right?
Now imagine you have to pay for this even you don't care about twitter because people want to abuse your name to make profit. That'd be racketeering.

  18. @BigTLarrity The #BlueBadge in twitter had nothing to do with insecurity of the ego. It was there to guarantee that the person you are talking to is the person the account pretends.
Imagine your child is a big fan of a pop star and talks to an account claiming to be that person. I guess you would feel better to know that the person is really that pop star and not some groomer who wants nudes or to lure your kid to a shady place.
