My 1st native cup plant bloom (Silphium perfoliatum seems likely). It's their 2nd yr & they're all around 3-5ft (0.9-1.5m). I've seen plants on the restored prairie ~ 7-8ft (2.1-2.4m). The same inflorescence produces a cluster of flowers.

My oldest Sempervivum is flowering and I am happy/sad about it. It only blooms one time at the end of life but it made a lot of offsets along the way.

I treated myself. I've got a big blue grog clay pot for it ,and I've ordered a cheap obelisky thing off amazon.
Hopefully I will be able to fan it out across the wall when it gets going.
Apparently it has a very strong fragrance, myrrh with meadowsweet and vanilla. Can't wait.
It's a climber so it's going to get big.

These lovely yellow Lesser Celandines are carpeting the clear areas under the trees along the trails in #CartonHouse near #Maynooth ATM. The more showy blue & white carpets of Bluebells & wild garlic that will follow get all the attention, but I love these little yellow suns 🙂 #Bloomscolling
