I just found pristine KryoFlux streams for the 5.25inch 360K Blockout diskette and thus upgraded my personal library, as well as this entry on the Internet Archive. Blockout is a true icon of 80s retro gaming!

@muzej yes, I remember Polish-sounding names in the credits of the #BlockOut DOS game. I enjoyed that game very much. Great distraction as a student before exams. I think I can still play it reasonably well. It's like the bicycle, once you've learned it, the mechanics are in the fingers. BlockOut2 is a faithful re-implementation. But the tradeoff between leaving holes and stacking too far up is in the head...

Another ancient floppy disk, I had been tracking down for years: BLOCKOUT for the IBM-PC on a single, 5.25 inch 360K double density diskette. It's basically a 3D version of TETRIS and it's awesome!

I saw this awesom tutorial from @stayathomedev and it inspired me to start working on my Kaiju Game idea again, I had like years ago.

This time I try to get the sense of scale and the aesthetics right before I start implementing any gameplay... let's see where this will get me.

Blockout was a puzzle video game, an unlicensed, 3D version of Tetris, published in 1989 by California Dreams. Back in the day, this was a bit of a curiosity... but I loved it!

Today, I just unpacked a very nice, boxed copy of Blockout for the Amiga. Looks like everything is complete and in good condition. So far, I only ever owned the loose diskette and manual, so this is a nice upgrade!

If you want to play, I already uploaded the game to The Internet Archive a while ago. Amiga and MS-DOS disks and manuals!

Hi ppl, what is your fav way of quickly blocking out items/sceneries etc?

Been struggling with that recently.

A lowpoly approach doesn't work too well, since lowpoly is my final format, and I have trouble holding course and not gradually slip into final detail.

Having some rough block and scribbling grease pencil on the walls also didn't work well (no tablet, no drawing person).

So what I did, is what I call "cardboard approach"! Just planes + solidify:

Working on blocking out my first large portfolio scene in blender!

I had this idea to do a series of images of various vegetables cannibalising themselves. Sort of a social commentary on things nowadays.

In this one potatoes are gorging themselves on French fries, only to be dragged off once large enough to themselves become fries! #deep 😂

What do you think of it?

Will probably work on the potatoes or the deep fryer next.
