  1. CW: Fediblock medium (me.dm)

Not only will we be blocking the #Medium domain from our feed. We have added a #BLOCKMARK in TorBrowser with the title:

    cf BLOK jan'23

We hope you join us in putting an end to the #neocolonial endeavors of CloudFlare on the internet.

It is important to make the invisible threats, the silent war against the internet, quite visible.

A great addon that we try to recommend frequently is #BCMA. The cloud icon turns orange when a site is being #MITM'd by CloudFlare.

It would be so helpful if it did the same for Amazon, #Akamai, #LiteSpeed and others, but its a very good at helping us quickly identify and '#BLOCKMARK' (blockBookmark) a bad website quickly and easily.

We recommend ppl stay well away from kolectiva. Its CloudFlare.

    :)

Always always check new sites for Cf. Whether with an addon like BCMA or simply hit Ctrl+Shift+E in TorBrowser before loading the page and looking for 'cf-ray' in the server response. You'll start noticing quality cues of good websites if you start do this.

We may #BLOCKMARK cf sites with a bookmark "cf BLOK mth'YY"

    *wink

We may also BLOCKMARK Amazon, Akamai, MicrosoftAzure and Google sites.

The NetworkTab in #Firefox derived browsers is also pretty great and super easy to access (Ctrl+Shift+E). One can use it to see the different #trackers on a page too, and whether a site should be #blockmark'ed for going through #CloudFlare/Amazon etc.

You can filter the #NetworkTab to only show you images too ;)

For us it depends on the scale of the #tracking. If its #CAGFAM we will #BLOCKMARK.

The RT #news site has some #Yandex trackers but apart from that its not awful. Their #podcasts are served over #AmazonSoundCloud though. So we stopped sharing links to those.

Hackaday is served by #wordpress. Not bad?

ABCNews #Australia is #Akamai, for now its okay?

WorldEconomicForum (shills for #AI) are not bad from a tracker perpective:
    weforum.org

    Just to name very few.

We #BLOCKMARK sites these days. Basically its a reverse #bookmark, we list the bigTech firms the site sends data to and a mth'21 (eg. sep'21). We will not return to the site for 9 months.

Everytime we hit a BLOCKMARK it saves us minutes, yes.

    :)

Our understanding is they don't need to know the exact content they really just need to know the resources being fetched.

From there they are able to infer often with great accuracy the rest, ie. who, what, possibly even why the person is even accessing that content.

    Block Cloudflare… #blockmark all #CAGeFAM.

  9. What is the better name for an anti-bookmark?

    - BLOCKMARK, or
    - CROOKMARK

They are for pages or domains that you want to be prompted *not* to visit when you try to visit them.

We really like both. Crookmark is a bit funnier, rhymes better with 'book', but 'block' is just more correct and nicer to think about.

    #antiBookmark #crookmark #blockmark #bookmarks #webBrowsers #networking #theInternet

We can start by #divesting, boycotting and sanctioning the USA by blocking #Amazon (#Cloudfront) and #Cloudflare.

We've started checking website's network resources for such, even if using #Tor. If we see Cf (both) or #Google/#Facebook trackers we use a reverse bookmark/ #BLOCKMARK mth'yy. If we must access the page we do it through a proxy like web.archive.org/<URL>.

    Step 2: #BoycottUSD and #useBitcoin.

    Those two steps are peaceful.

    Dropping flyers about this too.

  11. We are really loving the idea of #BLOCKMARKS.

Its a standard browser bookmark, but you strip out the URI and title of the page, and write, the name of the #CAGFAM's that it fetches resources from, the month and year, followed by "BLOCKMARK" in all caps.

So if the site is #Cloudflare fetching #Google, when you start typing it, the #blockmark appears like this:

    'cloudflare google apr21 BLOCKMARK'

The only problem is you end up with some crap when you start typing URLs… quickly dissipates tho.
