Android would be a good alternative I guess but I have yet to find one that's vanilla enough for my taste. The Pixel one looked promising.

I'd really like the idea of a Linux tablet, if only the apps I need would work on them. There are several interesting projects out there, particularly #blissOS / ROM but it's in some form of transformation induced hiatus.

I hate the fact that I must use apps for most things now. What happened to progressive web apps? Perhaps it's time for a web 4.0 now.

Does #BlissOS work? The last time I was evaluating and comparing Android distributions, I could only get Android-x86 to work.

Could #Huawei's triple foldable display phone combined with software like Samsung Dex liberate the #smartphone from being consumption-oriented devices? :thinking_face:

#android ecosystem does not suffer from the constraints Apple imposes. (see #WayDroid or #blissos or #PostmarketOS for example)

Projecting in the future, we might even get briefcase size displays/machines that unfold into a full tabletop-style communal computing interface.

@marix ich benutze seit Jahren Enterprise Moselle von HP (Pro und Elite Reihe). In dem Sektor ist Reparierbarkeit den Kunden so wichtig dass sogar HP sich dazu durchringen lässt. Die kann man relativ schmerzlos auseinandernehmen. (Für spezifische Modelle natürlich immer erst auf iFixit gucken.) Allerdings laufen die standardmäßig mit Windows. Via #BlissOS oder Ähnlichem lasst sich aber Android installieren und läuft nach meiner Erfahrung erstaunlich gut!

I installed #BlissOS on an old surface pro tablet to get an android experience, and it works surprisingly well.

The volume buttons and power button don't seem to work but they're still controllable from the touch interface

Bon BlissOS c'est pas mal mais y a quand même des choses qui fonctionne pas. C'est con je l'aurais bien foutu pour ma mère mais ces jeux semble ne pas fonctionner (genre ils ne répondent pas au clic ...) et il détecte pas le Chromcast non plus.
