hey blambers, I am returning to hard tech studies. I need a new favorite programming language to restart the fundamentals computational knowledge. I used to study computer science with C and C++ but I do not want break my head into pieces of shit again to earn money with a tech entry-level job.
Some of you have any idea what the most common language to grab my first entry-level job as a Software Engineer or something like that?
By now, I am applying to IT Support roles.

I do not remember who recommended this to me, but let me recommend it to you.
This USB cable tester is very convenient to keep around. It will help you clarify any doubts you might have as to whether you have the wrong cable (USB 2/3/4) or just a bad one (just power).
Sadly it also helped me realize that all my spare USB cables are either 2.0 or power only. But okay, knowing is half the battle.

semanas atrás pedi ajuda aqui com um problema de configuração de apt corrompida no mint; segui os conselhos dados (obrigada, galera!) e de início não deu certo. rodei de novo os comandos, zerei as configurações, optei pelos repositórios padrão, e funcionou por uns dias. agora voltou a mensagem de erro :bozo: #blambers

This thing here is something the #GNOME project always did; I'm glad gettext is helping making it default behavior:
"In a po/ directory, the PO files are now exactly those that the translators submitted or committed in version control, or a translation project's daemon committed on behalf of the translators. They are no longer regularly updated with respect to the POT file in the same directory."

As a #RDataTable translator and, more importantly, as a former #GNOME translator, I'm happy with the 1.0 release of gettext, an incredibly good internationalization and localization toolkit. If your software project is not using gettext yet, do consider changing that.

O monitor do notebook de um amigo queimou.
Ele conectou um monitor externo, mas só tá entrando como extensão de tela.
Ele pensou em colocar o HD em outro computador, configurar pra, em vez de usar o monitor auxiliar como extensão, usar como espelhamento e depois voltar o hd pro notebook.
É um Linux Mint
Alguém sabe se isso pode dar certo?
Alguma recomendação?

Eu tive muita, mas muita dificuldade para atualizar a BIOS desse computador. Seria muito mais econômico eu trabalhar no que sei fazer bem, e pagar um profissional para fazer isso. Exceto que esse computador está com um problema difícil de entender no hardware, e já foi para a assistência técnica várias vezes (ao ponto de desistirmos) e ninguém tinha atualizado a BIOS.

Were you ever told to paste some command line on your terminal/shell?
Do you really know what it does?
Just to make sure, you can run it through this ExplainShell:
The answer is not generated by AI, which means mistakes are easy to spot. The footer even links to the man pages themselves! FWIW, I've had slightly better results picking Arch Linux's man pages instead of Ubuntu's, even though I'm on Debian.

TIL que não precisa mais editar arquivos do Postfix manualmente ou instalar novos pacotes para poder enviar e-mails de notificação no Proxmox.
Se você tem um servidor SMTP, basta ir em:
Datacenter > Notifications > Notification Targets > Add > SMTP
E em Notification Matchers você pode configurar para só receber e-mails em caso de erro e selecionar o target SMTP que você acabou de criar.
Lembre-se de adicionar um e-mail no usuário do painel do Proxmox em Datacenter > Permissions > Users.
E configurar o remetente do e-mail em Datacenter > Options.

Pessoal do #blambers esse é o segundo ano em que uso a compilação do #IRPF em #flatpak e essa porra fica com a letra minúscula. Como resolver isso?
Quando eu fazia a instalação manualmente eu podia alterar manualmente as configurações do Java para alterar o tamanho da letra, mas no flatpak eu não tenho acesso direito às configurações do Java e mesmo que eu consiga ano que vem o problema vai se repetir.
Será que tem como resolver direto na compilação? Não sei se isso acontece com todo mundo.

Próximo projeto vai ser testar instalar o UmbrelOS em um servidor caseiro rodando Debian, e usar o Tailscale caso precise acessar algum serviço de fora de casa.
É um projeto com um escopo menor do que eu tava planejando, mas acho que é melhor dar um passo atrás do que um maior do que a minha perna :P
