  1. My neighbor feeds the deer 😡. He’s amassed quite a herd. He fashions himself as a rancher. There’s a $1,000 fine for feeding them. I wonder if that is per head 🤔. But he’s my frienemy. I won’t report him. I wish he would read the article I have from Fish and Game about how detrimental and dangerous it is for the deer’s digestive system. But he won’t

  7. Good morning to this passerby and her phantom auntie in the upper left, on a foggy morning walk. I didn’t see the second deer until I looked at the photo. It was foggier than this photo portrays.

  16. Hello this is a Deer Witch here with your #AntlerWatch mid-June 2023 update.

We have antler velvet on the bucks, with the beginnings of branching for those of age to have forked antlers.

Summer coats, which are coppery in hue, more uniform in color across the body on bucks, and show more bones/musculature are in.

Bucks are still traveling in groups, today saw 6 grazing together.

  19. I came across this on todays hike. A very common calling card left by male deer. It's usually seen low down on small saplings. A black tail buck deer rubbed the bark off one side of the sapling with his antlers. You'll see shredded bark fibers at the top and bottom from rubbing up and down. Elk do this too. (Bear and cat marks look different.)
