  6. @festlicheameise you might try approaching conservation builders or #conservation orgs. For example English Heritage regularly use blacksmiths with historic building skills, and conservation builders like hallconservation.com/ use #blacksmiths and #metalworkers for a variety of bespoke work. I can't speak to wages or length of contracts, but it's interesting work!

    buttress.net/services/conserva too - nice people!

  10. @jamesgurney
Did #blacksmiths move their shops a lot. I always thought they had a place in the city center, because anvils and stuff or heavy, but this guy is under a tent.

  17. "Much of what is known about African drumming has been transmitted through the oral traditions.

One popular belief is that the #Numu, or #blacksmiths, of the #Malinke of Guinea were the first to carve a djembe and originally played the drum only during the smelting of iron ore. Another story tells of a woman who broke through the bottom of an old mortar as she was pounding millet and had the ingenuity to mount a skin on it."

  22. Had a chance to forge today in my old shop in El Cerrito. I’ve been so busy with the move to Amboy and building the shop there that I haven’t turned this forge on since the start of September. Had a great session working on 2 fish knives. The idea is that I’ll sell them with 4 alder wood planks that I’ll harvest from the alders up in Amboy. #blacksmiths
