Ich bin ein bisschen nerdy geworden hiermit, und es geht viel darum, wie wir eigentlich Geschichte denken - also was Geschichte antreibt, wie wir das aufschreiben, wen wir als handelnde Personen wahrnehmen und aus welcher Perspektive wir ökonomische, soziale, kulturelle Strukturen analysieren.
Es scheint gerade wichtigere Themen zu geben, und viele denken vielleicht, diese Debatten um Du Bois, Williams, Trouillot, Gilroy, Black Atlantic usw. sind alt und mehr oder weniger vorbei. Aber ich habe beim Lesen dieser drei wirklich selbst nochmal gemerkt, wie herausfordernd deren Projekt ist. Was heißt eigentlich Geschichte von unten? Wessen Geschichte schreibt man da und wie schreibt man sie? Ich erinnerte mich beim Lesen Gilroys an einen afrikanischen Kollegen, der den Blues als Quelle für eine Geschichte transatlantischer Sklaverei nahm, um mit folktales und Songs die Bewegungen der Menschen nachzuvollziehen. Oder an westafrikanische lokale oral histories, die nicht nur für westliche Historiker, sondern auch die afrikanischen Kollegen total unverständlich scheinen, weil sie weder linear noch zirkulär vorgehen, sondern ganz andere Querverbindungen ziehen.

In this example, due to my limited skills, I used the words as weapons, while building a lexicon goes much further: they shape our realities, also on a material level!
