Magic is a question of values that fluctuate in a world of static circulation. As I demand: transform!
Abjection is above all ambiguity.

Watain - They Rode On
The lyrics don't mention magic explicitly, but this is the most "dark fantasy"-feeling song I know. I haven't really heard any other song quite like it.
"I've come to understand as an adult... that there had been abuse in my family, but it was mostly musical in nature"- folksinger in "A Mighty Wind"

Powerful dark girl pop, with what is either great horror vocal processing or epic vocal fry in the prechorus.

Another one for #TuneTuesday following the theme #BlackMagick;
Their music in itself can put you in a trance and it channels the wonders and power of deep boreal forests of Washington state. Imagine yourself living deep in such a place, wandering the low hanging mists whilst you are returning to your small forest commune, ready to call upon the spirits from the world beyond.

So for the Tune Tuesday theme of Black Magick I'm gonna go with Saint Mesa's cover of the Hillsong worship song Oceans, because I'm pretty sure he's talking about a different spirit 😬
I saw Tune Tuesday's theme is Black Magick.
I'm not going to think about this too hard. So...first song that pops into my head.
Insane Clown Posse's Southwest Voodoo. https://song.link/s/1jL03geVC8PGzJvngHx2aN
As we move into the darkest part of the year in the northern hemisphere, the #TuneTuesday theme this week is #BlackMagick: songs with references to the occult, dark powers, that old black magic. This tune, which describes an intolerable world while imagining a revolutionary response, fits the bill in my book (plus, "magic" is right there in the title).
The Coup, "Magic Clap" (2012)
Tune Tuesday's theme is about Black Magick
KAINA feat. Sen Morimoto "Could Be a Curse"
My theme of #BlackMagick got pulled out of the hat for this #TuneTuesday, and while I could - and possibly will - share a number of tracks composed with specific magickal intention, I'm going to start by highlighting the grandfather of occult blues and rock, Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
Perhaps best known as the original composer of blues standard, I Put A Spell On You, Cleveland-born Hawkins was classically trained, with intentions of becoming an opera singer. Set on defying convention, and after a few false starts, he became a blues singer and pianist with a flamboyant stage persona with occult trappings comparable to the sinister camp of his contemporary, actor Vincent Price.
Hawkins' occult theatrics directly inspired artists including Arthur Brown, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, and Glenn Danzig, among others, and we can directly trace significant parts of the tone and imagery of multiple evolutions of black metal back to him, as well as punk, goth, hard rock and broader heavy metal as genres.

Hawkins and his band were reportedly trashed when recording this, inspiring the unearthly laughter, whooping and demonic grunting that can be heard on the track.
It was deemed obscene upon release, for reasons that smack of both racism and conservative sexual mores.
Hawkins at times resented the persona, exploitative trappings and even the hit that made him famous.
Living in New York and then Paris, he continued to compose, perform and act during the 1980s and '90s, despite being well set due to holding the copyright on his own music, spanning a range of genres, including with garage rock band The Fuzztones.

Sidenote: It is highly amusing to me that this track is so cool, and yet, as usual, Jay Park is off-topic and making it all about him. Dude. 🙄 🤣
#TuneTuesday theme today is #BlackMagick - songs of the occult, dark powers, black magick.
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Spellbound ✨️✨️✨️
Another #TuneTuesday song for the #BlackMagick theme is another favourite of mine, from the now defunct The Devil's Blood. RIP Selim Lemouchi.
They played "hard rock in the vein of Black Widow, Coven, Black Sabbath, and a variety of 1970s underground progressive and psychedelic rock". I had the fortune of seeing one of their first live shows at Roadburn in Eindhoven, I was thoroughly impressed by the band and especially the vocalist "The Mouth of Satan".
