Iron Bones

I nearly walked straight past it. You’re on the South Bank, dodging cyclists, and there’s this railway bridge overhead that most people treat as a ceiling to hurry under. But look up and the underside of Blackfriars Railway Bridge is a riot of riveted iron girders fanning out like the ribs of some enormous mechanical whale. I switched to black and white because the colour version was fighting the composition; stripping it back let the geometry do the talking.

#C6 #CS6 #Blackfriars Rd counter recorded 8,582 journeys (YTD 816,909)

20 May 2024: The cycleway #C3 #CS3 counter on London's Victoria #Embankment has blown through #1million cycle journeys this year with a 12+k day.

May 20th is the earliest #1million since the counter was installed in 2018.

The cycleway #C6 #CS6 counter on #Blackfriars Road is also having a record year-to-date at 623k, and the better end of 7k today.

The displays on both counters are reported to have had offline days this year.

Nothing stated publicly by TfL and TrueForm Group but it appears from reports by
@[email protected] and @[email protected] this week that the #CS6 #C6 cycle journey counter on #Blackfriars Road may have been rebooted.
It's been offline since August 2022.
