Coming to you from my newish #selfHosted #Pleroma instance after a couple years on #Mastodon. I was a middle class #musician back when that was a thing, trained as a #drummer and, since I was 13, I put all my dedication and dollars into making an honest, modest living as a sideman. I grew up listening to #classicRock from half a generation earlier, and played lots of #blues in my hometown, #Chicago, before I became a #jazz snob and got my 1st steady gig with a cruiseship showband.

I ended up in #LosAngeles just in time for the Great Depression and subsequent triumph of #Socialism for the Rich™, which I thought was as bad as it could get until they passed the CARES act. I retrained myself at the #piano when club gigs no longer paid enough for me to hire a bassist and piano player to accompany me in playing my earliest efforts at #songwriting. My #radicalism was firmly established by the time the DNC cheated Bernie out of the nomination. The 1st time, I mean. 2020 finished the job. I don't know what I am now, a #progressive, an #anarchosyndicalist, or what. I just know I'm not a Democrat and find the #BizarroWorld direction of many calling themselves #liberal to be absolutely terrrifying, as we already have one intolerant and sociopathic "opposition".

I am content to identify with my #outsider artist influences like #TomWaits and #WarrenZevon, general #geeks like #JoeJackson, and the #workingClass works of #BobDylan, #NeilYoung, and #BruceSpringsteen.

I've almost entirely freed myself of the dependence on proprietary platforms and use and support several #openSource projects. #Owncast and #OBS have made it possible for me to keep my #music #livestream alive after sacrificing roughly 75% of my viewers when I left FB for labelling my #artist page a source of #misinformation. #FreeSpeech and fighting #citizensUnited, #corporatism, and #censorship and #propaganda are my primary political concerns.

I'm a fairly accomplished amateur at #cooking and I love #tobacco after discovering #pipesmoking and #cigars and quitting a 30-year cigarette habit. I drink #beer and #scotch throughout the weekly livestream, which you can follow for a notification when I go live at @kyle

Saving the most important thing for last, I generally love people and I am much, much more fun and easy going than this introduction makes me sound lol
