Dan-no-Ura, ein erzählendes Lied, das in Nara mit der Satsuma-Biwa, einer viersaitigen japanischen Kurzhalslaute, gespielt wird, die oft zum Geschichtenerzählen verwendet wird. Sie kam im 7. Jahrhundert nach Japan. Sie wird aufrecht mit einem großen Plektrum gespielt. Eine moderne Biwa hat oft doppelte vier Saiten, wie in diesem Fall.

Yesterday's side quest, a 10 minute train ride from Kyoto Station to visit Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan.
What a contrast to the packed tourist spots in Kyoto... it was empty. We saw one or two other tourists, and a dozen locals while walking along the lakeside park.
Too bad the air was hazy because of dust blowing in that day, but it was still a nice walk.

Mit der Sakamoto-Standseilbahn ging es hoch auf den Berg Hiei, um von dort dann erst den Blick über den ganzen #Biwa-See zu genießen und dann die Tempel zu erkunden. Diese gehören zu den ersten buddhistischen Tempeln in Japan. Trotz recht kalter Temperaturen von zwischen 5 und 10 Grad sind wir auch noch bis auf den Gipfel hoch. #Hiei
