#TheUsualSuspects have just recently announced their #emulation of the legendary sound of the 90s in the #RolandJD990 under the name #Jade and it sounds amazing. It also runs very nicely on #Linux and works great in #BitwigStudio
Currently in alpha pre-release for paid supporters only, but coming very soon!

Revised 13 July 2026
More #BitwigStudio #Reverb explorations. My All-Pass reverb was almost adequate, but not quite as smooth as I wanted. I found another YT channel where there were some nice examples of how to populate the Wet Tank with all sorts of other stock devices (or 3rd party) to achieve some truly spectacular results.#AS-Reverberator is getting an overhaul. I seem to have not bothered to share this the wider community (other than having the v1.0 preset added to my Seal Eggs preset for "fog").
The preset page on my website is being updated in stages as time permits. I hope you'll check it out.
In short, this is a lovely exploration of what is possible with Bitwig stock devices only. The FX Tank is packed with goodies - EQ, Pitch Shift for Shimmer, Chorus and Blur and a delicate bit of gain stage for endlessssssssss reverbbbbbbb...
Great for #Ambient #BonkWave and #NotBonkWave

Friends of #BonkWave and #NotBonkWave and #BitwigStudio #ElectronicMusic producers who use #LinuxAudio, you might want to have a play with my AS All-Pass Reverb preset.
I made it in Bitwig Studio v4.0 so it should work in just about any version after that. You can check it out on my website over at: https://www.ambientspace.com/technical-notes/bitwig-notes/as-all-pass-reverb

I been using #BitwigStudio for years but mostly as a recording and mixing tool, which is about 5% of its capabilities.
Mostly cus i prefer to make sounds and music separately from a screen.
But learning how to use it with an external control device (the AKAI Fire) might change that !

@mosgaard the goal is to achieve separate MIDI lanes for each drum (BD, Snare, HH) for easier editing. And the collective lanes all feed MIDI note data into the Drum Machine (or Rack Extension in this screenshot).
I prefer the solution with #BitwigStudio over #Reason as I can assign a number of random operators in Bitwig to notes for ever changing velocity, timing, and probability (not possible in Reason 12 with my current collection of REs).
This way I can create note clips that I can chop and change with (either in the Clip Launcher or Arranger).
There is a lot of prep work required to set it all up in Bitwig, but it helps to build muscle memory for working with UI and fits into what I call admin
time vs creative time.(I'm in Windows this morning messing with #Insydium particles in #Blender - which is coming soon for #Linux.)

I've been thinking about drums and how Reason has the option of instrument lanes, and can this be done in Bitwig Studio?
Editing programmed drums can be aided by having a note lane for each voice.
Today's solution is to use a Group Track to hold the Drum Machine and a Note FX Layer to route Instrument Tracks into the Group Track. This feels like a good way to continue. This will hopefully find its way into my next #FSOBW track

The new Empath #Filter module for #VCVRack looks amazing. There is a nice intro video from #OmriCohen. I can well imagine running this as an FX bus through #BitwigStudio on #Linux and other platforms.

#GraphicsProgramming and #Linux folk. I have questions about #OpenGL vs #Vulkan
Dodgy looking websites like OpenLib.io (which appears factual, but has zero credentials which makes me suspicious) seems to have information about one being implicit (OpenGL) and the other being explicit (Vulkan) and how Vulkan is the future for GPU compute, but OpenGL is solid and old-school for graphics.
Are we at a point where Vulkan can be reliably chosen as a GPU toolset? It seems to have been around for a long time, but only recently have #Blender started offering this, and now #BitwigStudio are pushing us to use this (could explain why the latest pre-release is crashing as I have been avoiding Vulkan due to not knowing if it is reliable enough yet).
Questions: where do you get your information on things like this which comes from reliable sources? Is an older 2080ti able to run Vulkan instructions efficiently enough that I can switch over to it?
I am wary and don't like change.

Pre-release #BitwigStudio v6.0.7 on #Linux won’t launch. I get a splash screen and then it quietly goes away and nothing.
Have reported.

I am tediously crafting a #BitwigStudio port of my old #Reason Drum Kits so I can have a particular 'sound'. The exercise is valid in that it is pushing me to concentrate on the mappings of samples, reading the NN-XT sampler settings in Reason and converting these to meaningful information for Bitwig.
There are 9.8k sample files. There are recordings for Room, Close, under the Snare, and Overhead.
I'm building a nifty spreadsheet on #kDrive as a first exercise of working outside of #Google.
And I am listening to #BernardPurdie and #ElvinJones while teasing out the various details.
I am very eager to start programming and making some sounds. #ElectronicMusicProduction

Sometimes more is not better. I went a bit mad with my #BitwigStudio preset yesterday and made a much more complex version that I thought would more faithfully mimic the #Buchla248, but all it did was generate sadness by becoming unusable.
So I stripped it back and focused on what I could do with the Stack Spread options and I have something I am pretty happy with. It's more than the basic prototype and a number of issues have been addressed and now it is capable of making a lot of fun noises and rhythms.
The Polymetric Polyphonic Spaceship of the Mind is nearing completion. I just need to decide if I will share it and write up some instructions. Who am I kidding? I'll probably get to that tonight.

I've been obsessed with the #Buchla #248 #MARF and the incredible sequencing that it can do. There is an amazing #VCVRack interpretation of #SuzanneCiani's #BuchlaCookBook and I had a brain wave two days ago while staring at the ceiling in the hospital (I am home now).
What we have here is my first audio demo of my #AS248Sequencer. It's a bodged #MARF-Lite where I have movement, multiple play-heads (3 in this case) and have made my own versions of the "Ciani Sequences" from the Cook Book. There's complex oscillations and low-pass gates. All in #BitwigStudio. It is ridiculously fun to perform on and hours roll by and my mind wanders to the good places.
I can be a little loud at parts so mind your ears!

There’s this amazing #TipTop #Buchla #Eurorack panel that has just come out. It’s the #248 #MARF. It’s ridiculously cool, powerful and expensive.
Now that I know I can make controls in #BitwigStudio I am looking forward to developing a #performative #ElectronicMusic setup that is based on #SuzanneCiani’s #BuchlaCookbook following the most excellent #Pyer #VCVRack emulation.

So sorry! Was silence. Have re-rendered.
Eerie #Winter #ElectronicMusic ideas generated from #BitwigStudio and #VCVRack with the #Venjolin module. I've routed my to work with #Plaits, loads of #ChronoBlob delay and #Plateau reverb.

I usually spend a considerable amount of time cleaning up #automation data in my #bitwigstudio projects. I just have to ensure that everything is under complete control. 🤓 No chance for chaos! 😜 How about you?

@ravetracer_22 @polarity Here is a demo of my long-running #BitwigStudio grid development project - a recreation of the Sherman Filterbank 2. The Grid is an amazing place to develop ideas and tools in.

There's a new #VCVRack paid module set from #Venom and there's this new #Benjolin module closely modelled after the #AfterLater module. I've made a nice rig in #BitwigStudio where I can perform it from my MIDI fader controller and using an FX Grid patch for signal processing of MIDI it is all very smooth and lovely to work with.
I also discovered that presently only the #VST2 plugin for #VCVRack works as expected from session to session (Clap and VST3 do some very weird and unwanted things).
So here is a 5 minute ramble into the void from this morning.

And here's a little audio demo of my #BitwigStudio #ShermanikFilterbank preset (v4.5.1) chewing on a bassline with some percussion and chords in the background.
There are some shrill tones and loud noises. Adjust your audio settings accordingly.

i just gave myself an easter present. since ableton isn't getting their shit together and produce a native linux version of ableton live, i just bought bitwig studio. i got a great deal (valid until 7th of april) where i just had to proof that i bought the latest version of ableton live and got the bitwig studio license for 199€ instead of 399€.

#ElectronicMusic producers might want to take note of the latest #LoFiDrumMachines release from #SamplesFromMars I do wish they prepared #BitwigStudio #DrumMachine device presets, but it is really not all that hard to do for yourself.

Secret preview: Existential Lemonade. A 20-minute writing exercise. #BitwigStudio with lots of #AccessVirus and weird chords.
