I have so many German friends on here, I have a stereotypical German question for you...
My doctor recommended I wear Birkenstocks at home due to my flat feet. He said they will help with my tendon issues and he's right. Over the last three years, I've worn Birkenstocks at home and they're great.
Because they're house shoes, I prefer the closed toed version, and I sometimes wear them without socks.
Now the shoe (the foot liner, technically) has begun to smell.
I need to kill the bacteria, but I don't want to destroy the shoe.
I tried a little soap and water and that isn't strong enough.
I could spray them with vinegar- that would kill the bacteria, but I don't want shoes that smell like vinegar.
Online people talk about putting them in the freezer, or covering them with baking soda.
How do you handle this?
