#Sunday is as good as any day to watch a bird bathe, and #Robins are one of the best at that. When I am editing these videos, I am often surprised how much bird movements are in tune with music. Managed to capture Jadie and I doing a "Squish! Squish!" call and response. You can just see her head pop up behind her boing rope. The backyard is full of baby birds, and they all come down to the pond. Here's a Baltimore Oriole with two young ones. A Rosebreasted Grosbeak watches on, his offspring came later. Good morning everyone 🌞 Up with the #parrots this morning, who are all munching happily after a little cuddle with Ziggy Half Tail 😊 who is still barbering, but not quite as badly as before thank goodness. She's done this before, but it takes ages to grow new tail feathers so she'll be raggedy for a while. I'm glad to say that Toby's wing flipping was very much reduced last night so the poor boy finally managed a better night's sleep. I'm going to let him have a few days off the various food items we removed and then try reintroducing the chickpeas and possibly apricots one by one. If that works then a little sweet corn might be added the next week, but we'll see as it's probably the least nutritious of the three and I don't want to set him off again if that is the culprit. #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastdodon #BirdsOfFediverse #goodmorning

Good morning everyone 🌻 Grant got up for the #parrots again today as I am still struggling a bit with energy, so I am just working through my first #coffee of the day. Toby has unfortunately started wing flipping again. He definitely has no fortified pellets, but we were giving him calcium supplement, so we'll need to stop that why we try to figure out what is causing it this time. I also read that corn could be a culprit and he's been getting a cooked mix with sweetcorn at night, so I'll need to pick the sweetcorn out and see if that helps.I'm also going to cut right back on his hummus and any nuts for a while, in case it's too much protein. Work again today. I got sucked into the black hole of emails yesterday, but I have finally cleared them all out and things are back to normal again , which means meetings and spreadsheets 😊

Good morning everyone 🌞 I bit dark here this morning, with more rain on the cards I think. The #parrots are finally munching after a major panic when I accidentally knocked the readout from their post office scale off the shelf when taking Toby's cover off. It is on a long twirly black cord, which is very obviously a snake, and so all hell broke loose (my poor, poor neighbours! ☺️). Ziggy has unfortunately been barbering her tail lately again and it is now only about half its normal length. I'm hoping she will stop now before she really won't be able to fly properly, but it's hormone time and she is really bad this year. I will be glad when it's over and hopefully she can grow nice new tail feathers again at some point. It's heartbreaking at times, but you just have to accept it's part of her makeup. #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastdodon #BirdsOfFediverse #goodmorning

Good Moo everyone ☀️ I'm in the bad books at #Parrot central this morning, because despite going food shopping specifically for the #parrots, I forgot to buy apples 🫣 This means that Jadie doesn't have her usual apple slice to chew on. I have given her mango instead, but the look of disdain she just gave me would melt steel 😂 Once I've had my #coffee and woken up a bit I'll need to head down to the local Coop and get some. Ziggy was also not for going in today, so we played games with her telling me to take her over to the cage, she flying back to the couch "Tee hee hee" ing and so on repeatedly until she eventually was too hungry to continue the game 😊 Here is a quick video I shot of her playing with her beloved plastic sword. After some good breakfast and wing practice, the first Robin baby has left the nest an hour ago. Robins cannot fly properly when they fledge, so the young ones follow the parents around by foot for a couple of days, learning how to feed and survive. #birds #birdsofMastdodon #nestwatch #nature #Ostdrossel

Good morning everyone from #Parrot Central where the quest to have Jadie try some fresh chop continues. The attempt to get her to try some using a small plastic travel bowl high up in the cage failed as shown by evidence photos A and B below 😂 I have now ordered one I can bolt to the side of the cage high up for the next attempt. I know Jadie likes cooked peas and sweetcorn, because she will relish them if you hand feed them to her, so I think I will try a mix heavy with those when the new bowl arrives. Ziggy is now completely happy going to the chop bowl and having a rummage around. She started off carefully picking out the pomegranate seeds, but she's more inclined to try other things in there now, which shows that persistence with #parrots does indeed pay off. #PetsofMastodon #BirdsOfFediverse #BirdsofMastdodon #GoodMorning
