This wader is a Black-tailed Godwit. RSPB Arne has completely different habitats to where I live so there were a few firsts for me and this is one of them.

The Redshank coming in to land, extending its distinctive bright orange-red legs. It also has a similar coloured base to its bill. Taken at RSPB Arne. It really is a beautiful place.

Almost nothing to do with birds, but this was taken at Corfe Castle in Dorset which is very near RSPB Arne. I got some nice shots from there which I hope you will see. Brings a feeling of times gone by, apart the cars in the background 😄

It’s been very hot and the birds have felt it, like this young Blackbird.

The blackbirds have been very successful this year with several pairs bringing juveniles into the garden.

Ok, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Time has flown this Summer. So the first is the Robins that were looking to try again. It might not have been the same ones and they were building the nest further down the fence in the ivy.

It was great to see at least 3 fledglings from the nest being fed from the busy parents, showing them where to get any easy meal when they can fend for themselves.

The Blue Tits have worked really hard to feed the young in the nest box. Feeding has been every 30 seconds or so.

It really is tough for birds to successfully bring up offspring to adulthood. I don’t think one of the Robin fledglings survived the first night and the second I think perished after the second night. The Blue Tits have done a lot better, and at least 3 young are now fending for themselves no longer needing the parents to feed them. #birdsofmastodon #Nature #Wildlife #WildlifePhotography #Birds #NaturePhotography #RSPB #BirdPhotograpy #BTO #Photography

A fledgling being protected by an adult which was trying to get it to move to somewhere safer with more cover. At this stage they are extremely vulnerable. We even saw an adult attacking a Grey Squirrel that was getting too close to it.

We were privileged to see this Robin fledging from the nest in the ivy. It was second one to leave the nest. It was not able to fly and basically jumped onto a twig and clung on. It sat there until one of the adults came with some food.

The first fledgling we have seen in the garden was this Greenfinch. It walked around hiding in the bushes and eventually flew
