#Throwback to when I was just stumbling out of the van and saw this... don't be worried, this bumbling ibis actually did get away & i don't even know if there is a record of carunculated caracara taking prey this size but these sassy birds fear nothing!

technically it counts as bird in flight photography but hummingbirds are really bird in hover photography so they are the perfect bird family for beginners to bird photography

the struggle is real, i haven't practiced enough Bird in Flight photos where the birds are actually flying across the sky as opposed to flying in to a regular perch or feeding spot (i'm using a 400mm lens = suboptimal for distant birds)

this one was shot from the canoe, so it was take the shot or not take the shot... the birds were not gonna stop & perch on our heads 🤣

it's easy to identify this species of macaw from a large distance because of the red underwing that shows from a long way... can u name these birbs? (answer is in the Alt Txt)

here is the male Collared Inca, possibly the mate of the female in the photo i posted a few minutes ago... since i took the photos within moments of each other at the same location / feeder -- he is not completely black and white, note his little bitty purple hat!!!

the female of the Collared Inca species is technically more colorful since she is deep green, while the male is black...

on a photo site, someone commented that i like to photograph hummingbirds in flight, partly this is because i'm a beginner & there's a point where many hummingbirds back up or hover that makes it easier to capture the image-- they make a good learning experience

my dream for the new year is to learn how to photograph raptors in flight but that's another level

I am taking suggestions on how to improve backlit photos since I have little experience with backlit photography...

with birds & birding, you often have little choice of the lighting, you get the bird where and at what time the bird chooses to be...

nothing to see here just the world's biggest scariest bee pollinating your garden!-- (actually, just a woodstar trying to pass as scary while claiming all your flowers)

i have photo'd 50 species of hummingbirds, the woodstar group is always hilarious because they try to fly up on you like a bee in sound & the way they move

i've photo'd 50 species of the 147 species of hummingbirds i've seen, while on the topic of accessible #hummingbirds, I can recommend the sassy Blue-chested Hummingbird
