#FalmouthME - #NocturnalByNature: #MigratingBirds!
September 16, 6:30-8 pm"Join us for a well-timed seasonal program about migrating birds, and how you can help them journey safely on their way.
In the final part of the series, ecologist Deborah Perkins will focus on the migratory stage of a bird’s life cycle and how we can support their (mostly nocturnal) flights.
Songbirds in particular face an array of challenges during fall migration, and each one of us can do something to help.
Learn
- How birds are capable of physiological and navigational feats unparalleled in the animal kingdom.
- How to take action on the ground that will help birds aloft, and during stopovers.
- Why many birds migrate at night, and why #BirdFriendlyLighting is so important.$25 Member/$30 Nonmember

Wingbeat of Spring
This is a lively, almost mischievous image of a female Northern Cardinal caught mid‑flight, as if she’s taking a bold leap of faith straight through the air. Her wings are stretched wide, each feather fanned out in soft browns brushed with warm red. Her tail flares behind her like a little banner, and her bright orange beak points forward with determined enthusiasm.
She’s suspended between thin branches and fresh green leaves, the background melting into a gentle blur that makes her motion feel even more daring. There’s a sense of personality in the way she moves — a little spark of courage, a little burst of joy — like she’s announcing, “Ready or not, here I come!”
If you’re captivated by northern cardinals and other members of the Cardinalidae family—better known as the cardinal family—step into my photo gallery for a visual feast. Come take a look:

Small Birds at Forest Watering Station (Trail Cam)
Lots of tiny birds take turns at this forest watering station — what joy to watch all that activity.
Unfortunately, the trail cam has no display, so getting it framed perfectly is a real challenge. But hey, catching the moment is half the fun. 🐦🌲
