Not every researcher is an academic and not every academic is a researcher.#PhysicalScientists, #Engineers ,those in the #BioSciences, #HealthCare and many others are also exposed to data on a changing world.In some sense also everyone is now exposed to observation of #Climate impacts directly or nearly so. One would expect the subject of silent grief to be more openly discussed as data and observations become more and more in your face. Look out for one another and don’t give in to isolationism

The Darker #Bioweapons Future

Over 20 years ago the CIA wrote this summary of discussions with National Academies members on future threats from #biosciences. And still today not much (threat-wise) has changed, though synthetic biology has been full steam ahead. The threats we imagine always take much longer to manifest than we expect, and more likely, never manifest at all. Such is the nature of "anticipatory" scientific & technical #intelligence.

I’m back being my daughters ‘help get you a internship or experience in a lab’ coach!

Thanks for all the offers of help last time. She didn’t find anything but I’ve since understood a lot more about what she wants to do - more chemistry than biology apparently, immunology research related and (if by some miracle someone in this network is connected) ideally at #Stanford biosciences department which is close to Foothill community college where she’s studying. There was a program being run for an internship which was exactly that - helping community college students get experience at Stanford but sadly she didn’t get in.

So if you can help a very hard working, keen student get some hands experienced in this field, let me know - she’s here, waiting, and trying not to get too deflated during the search. 😊
