  1. A foundation of all good science is collaboration, and international collaboration has been a component of almost all breakthrough scientific processes. Science is a team sport after all.

It is essential that we have processes for recognising the qualifications and experience of scientists across boarders, in order to support this core component of scientific work.

Despite this, it can be a confusing process, especially in the realm of Healthcare Science, as it is crucial to both enable great science whilst ensuring that patients are protected by maintaining high standards of practice. It is a great privilege, therefore, this #firstreadfriday to bring you a guest blog from Niloofar Amirian, who shares her experience of going through the international registration process. Huge thank you to Claire Walker for the introduction.

  2. New student orientation 🎉🧬
Ten new students have started their graduate studies in the Drexel MCBG Graduate Program 😊
    Welcome to MCBG🤩

  3. 🧬 New publication from the lab! 🎉

    Timeless and mitochondria! 🧬⚡

Kalisse Horne, a PhD student, started this as a side project, and it grew into a full research project!
Many students in the lab, including Havya, Shriya, and Rhea, also contributed to this work, together with Chiaki Noguchi, Dr. Christian Sell, and Dr. Josh Mell 😊
    Great teamwork! 👏🔬

  4. For my sins I'm part of a WhatsApp group for people who've retired from my last place of work.
The current discussion is trying to find out what methods we used for a specific test* back in 1997 because a researcher has discovered that an important research paper (relating to acromegaly) didn't include the methodology.
There's a number of us old farts wringing our brain cells out trying to piece it all together!

I hate the two groups I'm in, but i guess there's a slight use.

  5. It's Friday, past 10 PM, and I'm still in the lab, preparing growth media after having drinks with my colleagues. It's been a long time since I've done something like this, and I feel happy 😊

  6. Hello Mastodon and Fedi friends, and a very happy #caturday from Jiji, Yuki, and myself! we're new around here, but excited to see what the Fediverse has in store. I'm a #BiomedicalScience student with the goal of studying #medicine in the future, a #folk musician, #fallout fan, #disability advocate (and haver), and an avid #cat lover! I'm still figuring out how to navigate this place, so go easy on me and my hashtags..! #introduction

  7. NCAA soccer semifinal last night 😊
We also watched a college basketball game tonight, nice coincidence with our son’s soccer games this weekend in North Carolina 😉

In addition, I had a nice time with my very first PhD student and his family😊

  8. Keynote Announcement!
Tracey Weissgerber will be our keynote speaker presenting a biomedical perspective on reproducibility and open science. She will be asking the question if going backwards through the research process is the best way to move forward.

You can find all abstracts of the day on this website: reproducibilitynetwork.nl/abst

  9. Early members of the lab 😊
Back in 2007 (when the lab was just 3 years old) and last Friday at our 20-year celebration 🎉
It’s incredible to see how much they've accomplished since leaving our lab 😊

  10. Current lab crew:
The new semester has begun, and we have welcomed a new student to the lab🤩

And, we we are already celebrating his birthday during his first week🎉🥳

  11. It’s been a busy day, but I had the pleasure of meeting a new group of students in the graduate programs 😊

It already feels like Friday to me 🤔 While it’s not Friday here in Pennsylvania just yet, it is in many countries, including where some of our students are from 🌍
