  1. The Vacuum Where the Evidence Should Be

Zach Bush, a physician in good standing, sits across from an interviewer and describes the soul, calm and fluent, generous with wonder. He says that every millionth of a second the atoms of your body dissolve and return, that a single fertilized cell organizes itself into a child by reading a map no biologist can locate, and that the map lives in the vacuum, in the electromagnetic field that fills the empty space inside every atom. He calls this the anatomy of the soul. In a 2021 essay on his own website he writes that the body projects itself as a hologram, and that its apparent solidity is an impression made by light. The performance is seductive because the vocabulary is real. Differentiation, migration, electromagnetic field, vacuum: each of those words has a home in a textbook. The trouble begins the moment you check whether they are being used the way the textbooks use them, or whether they have been borrowed to dress an idea that biology and physics both reject. […]

  6. Scientists found that living cells generate electricity through constant membrane motion, producing voltages similar to neural signaling. This “flexoelectricity” may explain ion movement against their natural gradient and revolutionize cellular communication.

  8. No Electricity, No Life by Colin D. McCaig, 2025

Electrical Forces Govern Great Swathes of Biology

This book presents the essential electrical events that shaped the creation of a planet that can support life, shaped membrane formation, single cell formation, single cell wound healing, multicellularity, epithelial tissues, basement membranes and many other biological events.

  10. Italian physician, physicist, biologist Luigi Galvani was born #OTD in 1737.

In 1780, Galvani discovered that the muscles of dead frogs' legs twitched when struck by an electrical spark. Galvani's report of his investigations were mentioned specifically by Mary Shelley as part of the summer reading list leading up to an ad hoc ghost story contest on a rainy day in Switzerland—and the resultant novel Frankenstein—and its reanimated construct.

    a good talk with @drmichaellevin
    and joschua bach ,,

Why is the competency of the planaria so great? from the talk it seems that the competency mechanism is bioeletric patterns that are coherent across hosts ? levin seems to imply some connection between strong competency arising out of wild genomes.. is that purely emergent or does the planaria have specific machinery other animals dont have? or .. am i mistaken :)

  13. We Are Electric: The New Science of Our Body’s Electrome

You may be familiar with the idea of our body’s biome – the bacterial fauna that populates our gut and can so profoundly affect our health. In We Are Electric we cross the next frontier of scientific understanding: discover your body’s electrome. Every cell in our bodies – bones, skin, nerves, muscle – has a voltage, like a tiny battery.

  15. #TIL: Young children (up until the age of about 7 - 11) can regenerate their fingertips.

This is from "We Are Electric" by Sally Adee, which is all about the body's bioelectric code. Apparently electrical fields and electrical charges are the software to the hardware that is our DNA.

The fingertip regeneration was discovered by researchers investigating how salamanders regenerate limbs. Of course it's not something you can easily test, but there are enough people who grew up without easy access to medical care that this is a known fact.

Check @drmichaellevin publications on #bioelectricity with planaria flatworm self-reconstruct from parts experiments!

    also with such caveats:
»It is an open question as to whether cells are truly universal constructors and could be coaxed to build any desired morphology, once the mapping between bioelectric states and anatomical outcomes is fully understood.«
