The wetland-dependent northern lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) is in sharp decline and is classified as vulnerable in Europe. The disappearance of many wetlands to make way for intensive farming is the main threat. Furthermore, in France, it is still hunted. I hate hunting.

I was surprised to see that black-legged kittiwakes (Rissa tridactyla) are also classified as vulnerable. The cliffs are less and less noisy. Overfishing, as well as climate change and pollution, are the main threats.

The saddest story is that of the rhino horn. Because of it, the black rhino is critically endangered. When you’re lucky enough to spot one, you realise the need to protect all biodiversity, and you feel outraged by those mad people who want to turn it into a trophy or use it in traditional medicine because of that horn.
