Just been sent https://doi.org/10.1038/s41588-025-02442-5 which sounds like a good #CitizenScience project, but will mean faffing about with the VPN to read as it's not open access:
The BioDIGS Consortium., Alberts, T., Albritton, C.F. et al. Unearthing soil biodiversity through collaborative genomic research and education. Nat Genet 58, 3–8 (2026).
The #BioDIGS project is a nationwide initiative involving students, researchers and educators across more than 40 research and teaching institutions. Participants lead sample collection, computational analysis and results interpretation to understand the relationships between the soil #microbiome, environment and health.
