Spent way too long painstakingly scanning #FloofSon #Sunny's adoption and veterinary records (and optimizing the PDFs, performing OCR, etc), only to realize that the vet didn't email me, their "service" did.
And of course, when you click on the link, you have to accept the #ToS, which includes a #BindingArbitration agreement.
Well, I guess I'm just going to bring paper records with me.
Foxtrot this stupid timeline.

#BringATrailer just amended their ToS to include #BindingArbitration with no possibility of class action or jury trial, without a way to exclude yourself.
This shit should be illegal. Denying consumers the right to access the justice system is by definition denying them of justice.

$99/mo (regular price) is pretty high for an MVNO.
I would also check their ToS very carefully for an #BindingArbitration clause or other gotchas. Phreeli, another privacy-first carrier has one in theirs. 🤦♂️

Trying to sign up with a patient portal and it wants my full SSN.
Good flipping grief. NO.
P.S. I was able to just skip the SSN! How about that!
But then it wanted me to accept their TOS with #BindingArbitration. Eff you, I want to talk to my service provider, not install a Harkonnen Heart Plug for an effing corporation. -

It was a freebie, and it's decently powerful. 🫢
I think after I gave up trying to resist blasted #BindingArbitration agreements, I got kinda lazy.
Also, I have some decent mitigations on my #Android phone against spywareish apps, now. 🤷♂️

Tangential: I've all but given up on dodging the blasted #BindingArbitration notices.
Even "privacy-conscious" services like @ente and @phreeli have them!
For fork's sake!!!

> sure sue them.
I wonder what percentage of employers now require ruddy #BindingArbitration clauses in their contracts now.
I used to do everything to avoid those.
Now they're basically completely unavoidable.

I was coming very close to switching to Rossmann/Merrill's new #privacy-focused #cellular carrier, #Phreeli, but it has a #BindingArbitration clause, too.
* Long, soul-rattling sigh
So, I guess I'll just switch to #MintMobile instead and pay half as much.

Soooo...
There doesn't appear to be a single US #cellular carrier that doesn't have a #BindingArbitration clause in their #ToS.Shazbat. 💢🙄

meetup.com is yet another online "service" that now requires a binding arbitration clause.
Those are a tool of the devil and should be illegal, but they're totally legal, and their ramifications are manifold, and horrible.I really rely on meetup to find things to do and people to meet.
What should I do?

Freaking fiddlesticks!!
Now meetup.com requires a flipping #BindingArbitration clause to use their service.
So, what do I do? Stick to my guns and have no chance for a social life, or capitulate to the conniving, capricious capitalistic caper?
This is the stupidest timeline.

Holy crap, you can't even read an article on CNN without first agreeing to a #BindingArbitration clause.

FYI to Crunchyroll subscribers.
The terms of service were updated again. You have 30 days from when you first logged in after they changed to opt-out of section 14 (the binding arbitration and class action waiver).
All you need to do is email [email protected] (or snail mail - see the terms for address) with name, address, email of the account, and clear statement that you are opting out.

re: Mastodon.social and the "new" Terms of Service being proposed out there (see @sarahjamielewis @pluralistic today)
Like many in the #Fediverse, this has been a topic of concern amongst the admin crew here at #SocialBC!
We will not be adopting those terms for our users. Full stop.
If you are in British Columbia and would like to give us a try come on over. :) We're happy to help you with the migration.

@mrcopilot @FreeCAD @Blender @krishnadraws
I've got a decent bit of experience with #TinkerCAD, but would prefer to avoid them now because they've added a #BindingArbitration clause to their ToS, which I find... really swinish.

I've got some experience with it, but I'm turned off by their new #BindingArbitration clause.
Scummy corpo's gotta scummy corpo, I guess. :BlobCatAyo:

And you can use #NextCloud without signing a #BindingArbitration agreement.
I'd really love it if Ente would explain why they inserted that legal jiggery-pokery into their ToS, as it seems antithetical to the ethos (and counterproductive to the objectives) of a privacy-respecting company.
Because I would otherwise be a user already.

Noticing a few online services adding #bindingArbitration to their #TOS. EBay just did it yesterday. I guess with people being sent to concentration camps they figure some BS like that will fly under the radar. Guess they're probably right. 😞

Thank you!!
Yeah, ente was the one I was interested in.
In don't get how you position yourself as a privacy alternative to Google and yet slip in an awful legal whimwham like that in your ToS.

What are the google photos alternatives?
I remember finding one and being very excited about it, until I found a binding arbitration clause in their ToS.
That's a flat "no way" from me.

Well, I just ran headfirst into another wretched #BindingArbitration agreement.
I created a #Coursera account to take a #Go programming course, and of course their bloody TOS has a #BAA.
Jerks. :(
I guess I'm back to just reading a book, as the online courses are either too brief, don't have much in the way of exercises, are expensive, or are hiding behind stupid BAAs.

You can get rsync on the iPhone? I'm guessing it's like a file transfer app or something.
*Getting* the photos off the phone isn't the problem. It's storing, accessing, and organizing them.
That's what I was hoping to use #Ente for, but not if I have to sign a stupid #BindingArbitration clause.

I'll say it again.... Those of us that were warning our friends and family not to install the McDonald's app to get their free fries years ago were not just being dramatic. This is the future we are looking at and this is exactly where every political party in this plutocr.. er.... democracy is letting us down.

#Disney's #BindingArbitration bullshittery sounds like a far better reason to ban binding arbitration entirely rather than break up Disney, as a general solution.
Though if you'd like to argue for an #Antitrust case and remedy against Disney itself, I'd be generally on-board.
