#BilboToday An absolutely cosy holiday with a late breakfast in bed (Bilbo has breakfast in the hallway). Then we wanted to go out into the autumn forest, which was finally colourful, but a storm and a huge dark black cloud put a spanner in the works. We managed to walk very close to the edge of the cloud. Cloudbursts in the forest! Now, Bilbo is blissfully asleep after all the game tracks and meadow run. He walked as much as months before!

#BilboToday Bilbo is happy. He just visited his buddy, Madame Woowoo*, and my neighbour had prepared some dice of Gruyérè for him. Not just any cheese but Gruyérè! 🐶 Now you know how some #idioms have emerged in Twolegs' language: live off the fat (cheese) of the land / leben wie ein #Beagle in Frankreich.😁

#BilboToday has declared a #dog bed day. Outside, we have "Soiweddr", Alsatian for Sauwetter, or dirty weather. You know, when pigs find enough mud to roll around.🐷 I'll never understand why a #UK dog breed doesn't like #rain but Bilbo #Beagle mix told me that his ancestors once sat beside the open fire. He told me #beagles had always been #landlords, who kept twolegs and horses for fun. And I do believe him everything, as a silly twoleg! 😄 So have a comfortable #weekend! #DogsOfMastodon

A wonderful day with #BilboToday. He was so agile today and even ran some meters enjoying the tracks of other animals, and the scent of mushrooms and walnuts. I could walk quite without pain and enjoyed the coming colours of autumn. They have no fire this year, even the wild cherries don't get red. It's a year of brown-yellow and brown shades. Yesterday we celebrated 5 months after Bilbo's major surgery and he is still happy!

#BilboToday A dog's frustration that the blackberry season is over. And the pride of having dug a big hole. Sniffing the tracks of voles, deer and wild boars while the lame Twoleg can only smell the fox.
Tomorrow we celebrate Bilbo's 5 months living with an aggressive cancer. Hiking became shorter but he still has so much joy.🥰 Every day like today is a feast. #dogLife

#BilboToday Despite his cancer, Bilbo bravely walked a lot today, all the way to the forest. But there the chainsaws were roaring, and so we enjoyed the edge of the forest. Golden October is coming extremely slowly, everything is still quite green. There were many fresh tracks of deer and wild boar. Beagle paradise! And disappointment in the dog's face because the last blackberries had withered. He adores them. I was dressed in a T-shirt with short sleeves and was too warm! #ClimateDiary #Alsace

#BilboToday As it is raining cats (and never #dogs, my dog says!), my walk with Bilbo was the shortest ... to the neighbour's animals.
A wonderful experience: Two #pigs were cuddling asleep in the last dry corner. Suddenly one of them was visibly #dreaming. It sniffed, and burrowed in its sleep. The movements were transferred to the other pig. When the dreaming pig ran in its sleep, the other pig ran with its buddy.
I know such dreaming from dogs but never saw pigs dreaming.🥰 #animals

May I introduce Mr Quaqua? He is named after the sound and Bilbo knows the name. "Cherche Monsieur Quaqua (koua-koua)" - and he brings his toy. Or dreams a hunting dogs dream after his morning meal. #BilboToday #dogsofmastodon #dogToy

#BilboToday Some moments ago Bilbo pilfered a big, ripe, and burst fig from our neighbour's tree, ate it completely and was so happy about the booty.🥰
The time begins when we feast on every little joy and I could cry out loud. He begins to change, his muscles degrade.😭 #cancer

#BilboToday This expression of a beagle that you "forced" to go out in the pouring #rain! World-weariness, incomprehension, silent accusation and yet behind it all, unconditional love.
I'd like to train myself with it. And throw that gaze intensively at everyone who destroys this #earth, wastes #chances for a livable #future, or divides instead of unites. Our #world needs a hell of a lot of these glances! And for the stubborn of humans we all had a big 💩 ? 😈

Bilbo makes a taxi job: lazy crickets ride on him from meadow to meadow. Now I heat the room by opening the window ...

#BilboToday A wonderful #summer day. Flocks of starlings chatter happily because I leave the grapes to them. There are quantities, but because of the drought they don't taste good and rot.
With age, Bilbo gets more and more extendable. 😁 I caught him stealing my breakfast from the worktop. Of course, I had to scold him. But I didn't begrudge him and laughed inwardly at how laboriously he hid it. He was a comic gulp in beagle form! 😂

#BilboToday The #walnuts are ripe, unfortunately mostly hollow or tiny due to the drought. We met a ravenous Krächzel who effectively cracked them by chucking them in flight onto the road. How do I know that this #raven was Krächzel? He didn't fly away and chattered with Bilbo. I had set off without breakfast and on the way dreamed of how I would defrost one of those luxuriously expensive pain au chocolat afterwards. What was no longer in the freezer? Exactly. Dreaming of a pain au chocolat ... 😋 🥴

Imagine my beagle mix Bilbo who grumbles because I'm not ready to go out until 9 o'clock on Sunday. Happily, he walks, makes 💩 and at once, turns around to walk back. Twoleg is too late? It's already too hot? So, no hike for Twoleg, she has to feed the dog, hungry from walking! 😁 It's Sunday, a distinguished #beagle holds court in bed. #DogsOfMastodon #dogLife

#BilboToday I feel like an old rag to wring out. Tonight panic phone calls to emergency services, lost in the medical platform jungle. Bilbo had drunk a leftover cafe au lait (he hated coffee so far). According to Google, as good as lethal. According to the vet on the phone no emergency. Mr Monster Critter survived the night with some heart palpitations and agitation. Corticoids make extremely thirsty. (Coffee is indeed dangerous, especially if dogs eat beans or coffee grounds) Mine was diluted.

#BilboToday The strange weather is indecisive. Twoleg is still heat-plagued. Bilbo showed how best to deal with it: leisurely, no big run. Visit the neighbour's dog, check the other neighbour's apples. Then an extensive chat with Widderle, the last sheep who can't decide whether he's a goat (he lives with them) or a beagle (he touches nose-to-nose).

#BilboToday Early in the morning Bilbo and I walked to the forest to say hello. Clouds and only 20°C, yeah! The forest greeted us with some delicious blackberries (Bilbo loves them!) and this fascinating walking stick. Bilbo is happy and feels fine after more than one hour walk. At the moment he makes his digestiv sleep at my legs.

Let's go this way! - You can't, it's a maize field. - I am small, pleasssse! - Stay with me! - But I neeed to sniff there.- What's so interesting there? - Can't you smell these delicious wild cherries? They fall directly into your mouth! This delicious scent. - Unfortunately, I had to say no because cherry stones are forbidden now.
