  1. @ascentale @bikenite #BikeNite A8 When we biked to church on Easter Sunday, we were glad to have our panniers with one nearly empty (when we biked there, it was simply holding a wide-brimmed sun hat. That gave us plenty of room on return-home trip for a surprise gift at FPC of potted daisies from our friend Ellen Tucker (of sfba.social/@bikemonterey/1149).

Anyone on Monterey Peninsula on April 12 who’d like to bike there with us for Gospel Bluegrass, see Sunday #BikeTrain; details and to RSVP: bikemonterey.org/pop-up-easter

  2. Read full report by Sean Roney in King City Rustler: kingcityrustler.com/cyclists-c (excerpts below).

"This year marks 20th year for the Fuller Center for Housing and 17th year for the Center’s Bicycle Adventure ride, but first time the trip came through #Salinas Valley, as #BigSur highway closures meant an inland detour was necessary….St. Mark’s Episcopal Church provided overnight shelter for the group so they could get rest and eat in #KingCity."

“'These farmlands are fascinating, and I will never look at a jar of strawberry preserves [the same] again,” said Andy Simpson, who... had never before seen #agriculture on the scale of #MontereyCounty fields. 'The wonderful workers doing this are amazing.’

"“When you ride a bike across country and stay in #churches, you live a very simple existence,’ Asmuth said. “You realize how little in life you need to be truly content.’"

  3. When you pause to chat with people who bike🚲, you see and learn things you miss when someone is in a car.🚙 For starters, we learned that this gentleman–who took off his sunglasses😎 for our conversation–has beautiful blue eyes. 💙We also learned that he happens to be Christian and attends Calvary Chapel Monterey. He showed genuine ✝️Christian humility–and his name happens to be Justin Humble! Thank you to Justin for being a good steward of the earth 🌎by reducing carbon emissions every time he bikes🚴‍♂️ for transportation! BTW, we were able to give him a heads up about a beautiful, peaceful rest stop for people out biking or walking nearby – the Jay Bartow Memorial Garden at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Eldorado, Monterey. Garden details in new post: bikemonterey.org/people-who-bi
