https://shelter.apgw.de/shelter_0001/?lang=enOn the 25th of August 2026 we placed a sweeping brush and a lasered wooden info sign [made in the object workshop in a cellar of the design department at the university of applied sciences and arts Bielefeld] into the shelter...
The day may be remembered as "Sign and Broom Day" each year, from now on (with a celebration).

The rope we used to bind the brush to the shelter may also be used as a clothes line in the shelter entrance. There are useful hooks.
So this project is completed successfully now, many thanks to all the people who helped to make it possible!
I am looking for art residencies to create more shelters on participative artistic shelter construction sites where we re-use found and given materials. Searching for it with priority on germany because this is a "developing country" in case of free public common infrastructure (for climatefriendly travelling).

Works on the participative arty construction site (my master's project "Common Shelter") at the Ecosphere farm near Rietberg went well...

Thanks to another wood donation of a bike company in Verl, we will re-use wood from abandoned Europalettes for the floor. Also last works at the frame and further wood construction of the roof is possible.

"Shelter!" is an initiative for free public overnight-shelters. I am developing it while studying M.A. #Gestaltung at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts #Bielefeld. There is also a project-website: https://shelter.apgw.de
It is about #infrastructure as #art: For #climate-friendly travels. For local #microadventures. #Socially inclusive and #ecologically reasonable.
I like to see many new public shelter-spaces and trekking-places and I want to build shelters together with you, e.g. on public meadows at the edge of cities.
That's also a bit egoistic because I like to experience self-efficacy while building it, and in the best case, make it experiencable for others, too.
Inspiration and motivation is the impressive culture of public fresh air #tourism in #Denmark. There are hundreds of trekking-places for up to two nights, often with wooden shelter-huts. And: You are allowed to place your tent beside of them, if they are already taken...
