Bit of bike fettling. As I want to try some local #Cyclocross this season (deffo fat lad at the back) I've grabbed a spare budget wheelset for the Genesis. I've put a matching cassette on so I can quick swap the wheelsets. This set currently with some wtb raddlers. Quick local muck about ride on grass to give em a bit of a test! #biketooters

Trump's cuts to SNAP (food stamps) are rolling out faster than I anticipated, so I suspect I'll be kicked off in a couple weeks - but with a little luck on the weather, plus having my bike back on the road thanks to #biketooters, I was able to hit 2 food banks in the past 2 days and get stocked up a bit for the coming winter.
I have enough energy to process some of the perishables, so yesterday & today I'm making broth, applesauce (for baking), and hard-boiling eggs.
I think I might have stabilized my situation with sensory issues and cognitive problems enough that I can start getting more work, so I'm just trying to give myself as long a runway as possible once I get cut from SNAP for not being considered sufficiently disabled 🙄
I haven't posted about it much on this account but I've finally done a lot of work to get my calendar/tasks/email situation back under control - as in, checking them at all, and having the right software working in the right way - which as anyone with a job (especially freelance) knows, is kinda critical.

…of course I was heading to “Fietser door de bomen”! A bucket list ride. I was describing it to friends and family, and mostly, they were extremely nonplussed. “Why?”. But, #biketooters, you are my people. There is no reason to build a spiral ramp for bikes up into the canopy of the trees and back down again, but, excuse the language, it’s fucking amazing. I said in the vid that it reminds me of Oakwood in Pembrokeshire, but on reflection, it has a Center Parcs vibe too. In any case. Wow. 8/n

Do any of you #bikeTooters know of a tail light that literally says something like "move over 3 feet" - I'm tired of being passed too closely. I don't care if it's literally 3 feet wide!

Do any #biketooters know much about attaching a #bob bike trailers?
I found this BOB yak for $50 but it is missing the skewer I need to attach it to my bike and they've discontinued production.
Does anyone know where to buy parts? And how to know the specific part I need (mainly dimension)? -
in today's #Bikenite, I've changed the standard rear light for wireless directional lights which I need for city commuting in bidirectional narrow streets and crossings where there's no bike line. I think ebikes should include them from factory. 🤷♂️🔦🚲 BTW I took the photo very close, but it's a blink arrow seen at some distance.

on today's ride I wanted to replicate exactly the same route I made in my ebike over the trails of the hill with my Normal bike and it was a completely different and exhausting experience only at the climb, after some kms. it started to rain so I had to return before expected... 🤷🌧️🚲😮💨

I've been riding daily for the last week and this cycle has been the most enjoyable experience. My local Catrike dealer went above and beyond to help me make sure this was the right cycle for me.
Now to figure out where to mount a ham radio!

I think I can officially declare that I'm a cyclist again!
I used to ride an upright bike for commuting to/from transit, but got out of the habit when I did more car commuting five years ago. I donated my bike to the local community bike group so it could be refurbished and go to good use.
I'm not going back to commuting to transit, but wanted to do more exercise so I invested into a Catrike Dumont which is a recumbent tadpole trike.

New here, why I’m here
I joined Facebook 20yrs ago when it felt genuine and personal. Now, as a cyclist and former hill walker and motorcyclist, my feed is filled with clickbait about accidents involving those activities. Same with Twitter, which started great for connecting with my edtech tribe but then turned vitrioolic. Hoping Mastodon offers a kinder, more thoughtful space.
