So this year Christmas celebration was pleasantly interrupted by #bikepacker from Japan.
I was half watching new fairy tale from our national TV (which wasn't that good they didn't managed to make good one in some time) and got warmshowers notification.
I didn't told him much but when he just got in the middle of our family gathering he was bit surprised. I think it is the highlight of this year's Christmas for me and my family too.

Gibt es Leute hier im #Süden von Deutschland (und Umgebung) die auch im #Winter mit dem #Fahrrad unterwegs sind und gerne in der #Wildis übernachten?
Ich würde gerne mit einer Gruppe von #Bikepacker n und #Reiseradler n einen #Kurztrip #overnighter unternehmen. Am besten an einen Ort mit #Feuerstelle und, was ein richtiger Luxus wäre, wenn es #shelter gäbe, damit das ganze auch ohne Zelt geht. -

TBH, today was hard. Sitting hurts, boring landscape. Headwind. On the right fields forever. Left Danube behind trees. No shade to be had. Put on some music, head down and just pushed on.Highlight so far was meeting a fellow #Bikepacker. And the finding out I know him from the above hashtag. @plactagonic it was a pleasure meeting you.
I slept a bit in the hammock on the campsite. The bird tried to hit me as well -

we stayed at the youth hostel (1500m) before we continued uphill. Suddenly a young #bikepacker caught up with us. Paul cycled together with us to the #Torre (1,993m), the highest point in #Portugal mainland. During a well-deserved #coffee break at the #summit, Marc and Fiona planned the next route section, a shortcut on a hiking trail... Paul joined us, and the three of us stumbled for 3 hours through scrub and bushes over huge rocks, uphill and downhill searching for a path. what an #adventure!

@Blackhound you're both a braver & fitter #bikepacker than I am! I'm a novice.
I do have have a Sea to Summit Ether Light XT for cold weather. It has an R-value of 6.2. But it's more bulky than most at that rating such as the thermarest neoair xtherm. I tried the latter but it was too narrow and too noisy with the crinkly crackling.
The Ether Light for me is very comfortable. I think most bikepackers would baulk at its pack size but I managed to get it into my alpkit stem cell -

I'm a fair weather #bikepacker. My last trip was end of September. And I've not actually been wild camping I always find a campsite. Sounds awesome.
