  1. Question for #bikenitepq

    @ascentale #bikenite

Both @StevenKennard and I wonder who people have for bike video makers (vlogs) that they like to watch? We watch some for dreaming of trips we'd like to take on our bikes, others for kit reviews or tips.
For example, @shifter is on here with great content and there may be others. YouTube has ones we watch as well.
    What are your favourites?

    Look forward to seeing them!

    Thanks. Phil!

    Question for Friday #BikeNite

Yesterday morning I decided to just put my winter bib tights (Red White Apparel) on first thing in the morning, knowing I was going for a ride later. I reasoned that I would then be all ready to go without thinking what a hassle it would be to get changed later. And that it would result in a more comfortable ride, which it did. I have to admit that deciding to wear them under my jeans for the morning was not the best decision I could have made, but it was undoubtedly better choice for the ride once I took the jeans off.

What about you lot? Do you wear your chamois padded shorts or bibs as a matter of course or do you make that decision based on the length of ride you're planning?

For us, I think a ride of over an hour is more comfortable with a chamois, where less time doesn't necessarily need it. That's around the 20 km mark.

We decided that bibs were the way to go for us, but there's no question that they are more of an inconvenience to put on and take off. Are there any who wear padded shorts or tights and have found them to be just as comfortable as bibs?

Steven feels that having a pair with chamois that are just like underwear would be the ideal solution, requiring basically no changing, just wearing them under jeans. Are there any who do that? And if so, are there brands that you prefer?

Does anyone have experience plowing snow using a bicycle? The best source of inspiration I've found is this article, but it doesn't have detailed build instructions: flatbike.com/blogs/cyclist/sno

I have a frontloader cargo bike that seems like it would be ideal to me, the Riese and Müller Load4 75 Vario: cyclingelectric.com/reviews/ri

But I imagine lowering and raising a plow to be mechanically complex and finicky, and I would love tips.

I have several #Vaude cycling bags, and I noticed the one I'm using frequently when cycling to work is falling apart a bit. Comparable to the front bag that I have of the same brand.

I see on their website that they offer, although not available right now, a repair set including glue that might be useful.

Does anyone here have experience with repairing their cycling bags like this? Any brands of glue that are particularly great?

What are your favourite ideas for organizing a #PrideRide? Giveaways, bike decorations, any fun stickers or patches you've seen, etc. Let's hear it!

  6. Has anyone ever done any cycling around Rivière du Loup?

Our planned trip to Ontario will probably involve a stop there. If there's a good day cycle in that area we might stay an extra night.

And any suggestions for bike friendly hotels there would also be welcome. Or #airbnb ?

Could we open or close by asking people to have a thought for Paul Varry, a cycling advocate in Paris, that was murdered by the driver of an SUV a couple days ago.

If you can share the picture, the hashtag and the link to that story liberation.fr/societe/police-j if people want to know more.

I suggest you don't say more so we don't have to CW it.

  8. @ai6yr @ascentale @InkySchwartz #bikenite Wow, that's a really loaded question. I'd love to see this a a main #bikenitepq . When I had a 3x8 I usually ran in the top front chain and used the back gears as appropriate. Issue I always had was to remember to "gear down early and often" when approaching a hill. Now that I have the #prioritybikes600 with a Pinon gear, I just crank it to the gear I want and never have to worry about cross-chaining etc. Maybe this is a good reason for e-shift?

  13. Are there any route mappers that are able to chain bike and bus trips? I was trying to route a trip using bike trails and buses with bike racks along Cape Cod and it wasn’t an easy task. (It also overestimates the time to ride along trails, making bike trips look a lot longer than they really are.) #BikeTooter #bicycle #Provincetown #CapeCod #bus #bikeRack #transit #planning #mapping #BikeNitePQ
