ROAMING THE REGION: EXPLORING WR ON TWO WHEELS

June was Bike Month in Ontario, but who’s to say that the fun can’t continue for the rest of the summer?

There are several bicycle shops in the region to help you get set up, with everything from second hand bikes to specialized steeds. Many of them also offer repairs and servicing. Waterloo Region has one bike rental company which also provides local tours.

Happy #BikeMonth! Earlier today, I got to check out the new bikeways on Portland and Blue Jays Way. I covered these findings on my blog, as well as mentioned a bunch of bike related events that are happening this week. #BikeTO #TOpoli #VisionZero www.twowheeledpolitics.ca/2026/05/new-...

Brews Cruise

La Cumbre Brewing, Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 AM MDT

La Cumbre Brewing Company on Instagram: "Bike Month is in full swing and we’re already planning to finish strong 🚲 Mark your calendars for our first-ever Brews Cruise Group Ride! We’ve teamed up with @canteenbrewhouse, @bikeworksabq and @sendit.safely for a rad bike month finale! We’ll cruise a 10-mile out-and-back from La Cumbre to Balloon Fiesta Park and back via the North Diversion Channel Trail - a closed, shared-use path that’s perfect for riding together. Helmets encouraged, all levels welcome. Ride for free, or choose from a few registration tiers to support Bike ABQ and unlock ride perks & merch (including the official Brews Cruise tee 👀) ➞ Sign up and more info at the link in bio. But wait, there’s more 🚲🚲 After the ride, stick around to help us kick off the first-ever Maker’s District Neighborhood Block Party! Same day as the cruise (5/30), from 12–6pm, our hood will come together to collectively open our doors, highlight, and celebrate our super cool, unique, thriving industrial neighborhood & community. We’re excited to host and share all there is to discover. Expect open houses, pop-ups, art, food, music, good beer, good friends, and lots more to explore as you make your way through the district. At La Cumbre, we’ll be holding it down with our post-ride Bike Fair with bike vendors, vintage, art, and top tier beer, (plus more as we continue planning!) Plus if you’re on you’re bike, you’ll be able to discover the neighborhood on two wheels! Come be part of something cool 🚲 And if you completed all or part of the Brewery Bike Passport, make sure to swing by that day and submit it by 1PM for the prize drawings 👀 📍Full block party map coming soon!"

@CycleWR Speaking of @CycleWR — I help them out with Mastodon posts, but the org does a *lot* of great advocacy work here in Waterloo Region that deserves to be more widely known. And we partnered with them for the creation and release of @CyclingGuide here back in 2023.

I'd love it if some of you fine Fedizens would follow their account here. Please follow them and share the posts. They really are great people who care about their community 😀🚴🏼‍♀️

Check it out: the good folks at @CycleWR have a great-looking free screening (and discussion) of "The Engine Inside: Riding Towards a Better Future" happening on June 7. (Presented with Laurier Wellbeing in Film Forum — LWIFF)

Repost from @gogreen_toaks: Bike Month rolls on in May! Strap on your helmet and take part in Bike to Work Day on May 16th! Riding a bicycle is not only fun and good exercise, but it’s good for the environment too, by reducing carbon emissions and air pollution. Give it a try!

Happy Friday, #bikesky! In honor of #BikeMonth, we made a totally unscientific (but wheely fun) bike personality quiz to help you find out what kind of bike you are. Take it, share it, and let the friendly bike nerdery commence 🚲💫 bikeleague.org/what-kind-of...

I was happy to accept the #HudsonOH proclamation of #BikeMonth as a representative of the Environmental Awareness Committee.

The more bike and walk friendly a place is, the more environmentally friendly it comes as it lets people get a first hand experience of the environment. You see the litter, water drainage issues, flora and fauna that you'd otherwise skip over while driving at 45 mph.
