An under-considered benefit of streateries is the reduced chance of getting doored. You can’t get hit by a person opening a car door if there aren’t any parked cars. I particularly felt this on 18th Street, which turned from being a joy to ride into a nightmare obstacle course when the streateries were all torn down.

Anybody in #BikeDC know how to report a blocked bike lane to the city? The westbound lane of Porter street, just east of the turn-off into Rock Creek Park, is nearly impassible with debris and large branches.

I know a few people at DDOT and they are upset, to be clear it’s the leadership and I hope our next administration can put DDOT in the hands of someone that understands that 30% of our residents don’t own cars and safe mode choice is important in a vibrant city. @[email protected] #BikeDC
