Improving cities' #bikeability is about more than creating bike lanes. Part of it is having a safe place to lock your bike. This map uses #OSM data to show the locations and capacity of bike parking locations in #Heidelberg. The Neuenheimer Feld campus is a hotspot for bike parking, as well as the main train station.

Little bit disappointed that The Boy will have to wait another year before being able to do his #Bikeability Level 3 - something to do with insurance not allowing children below Year Six to do it. Doesn’t help when some journeys require road #cycling thanks to poor infrastructure

The Boy did his #Bikeability Level 2 training recently, and so far it's made an obvious difference. He's doing his ABC check, getting on the bike from the near side, is more deliberate in putting his bike on the road, and makes more obvious surrounding checks.
I've been telling and showing him these things for years and he's been a good, careful rider. Still, just one day with an instructor has made a clear difference. Now it's just a question of what sticks and becomes good habits.

📢 Das Projekt #Bikeability 2.0 am Institut für Geographie der Uni Hamburg erforscht, wie gut die (vielleicht bald fertigen) Hamburger #Velorouten (VR) tatsächlich ausgebaut sind und wie sie zu den Bedürfnissen unterschiedlicher Nutzer:innen passen.
Der 1. Teil, eine Kartierung und Bewertung der VR, ist abgeschlossen. Der 2. ist eine #Umfrage (bis Ende August) unter Radfahrenden in #Hamburg zu Präferenzen und Ansprüchen an die Radverkehrsinfrastruktur.

A new bike/ped bridge just opened in #Atlanta, spanning the railroad tracks of "the gulch" and connecting the Castleberry Hill neighborhood to South Downtown and the Garnett MARTA station. It's fantastic, and a huge win for #walkability and #bikeability. It also has a cool section passing through the former Norfolk Southern building, which is now residential. My eldest is having #Bikeability level 1 in school today (cycle proficiency training for those not in UK).
Can't wait to hear all about it and am wondering if she'll pick up any new skills.
We've been discussing how #wheelies are not part of bikeability unfortunately.
