  1. Back in April, I gave a short talk to a Unitarian congregation down in Myrtle Beach. The prompt they gave me was an interesting one: How do you employ art to make meaning in your life?

I stewed on that question for a long time, and writing the talk ended up being really cathartic for me - it gave me a chance to process questions I've wrestled with for an awfully long time.

I republished my script and slides on my blog: jayperry.works/blog/2026/05/18

  3. Why are there no walls between universes?
    Because walls require special rules.
Nature rarely builds walls — it builds gradients.
If universes form at energy thresholds, then separation is not a barrier, but a difference in state.
    No bricks.
    No borders.
    Just transitions.
What if reality is continuous, not compartmentalized?

  9. When I was younger I always liked falling back on the clock because it meant I could stay up later watching TV or fucking around on the Internet.

Now I look forward to the extra hour of sleep and maybe being awake early enough to go for a run and a shower before going to a networking breakfast.

Is this being a geezer or being smarter?

  12. Would we feel different about death if we always tried to remember it at the moment of birth? If, welcoming a new being into the world, we were always to say, “Here is a creature that will die some day. Here we are, at the beginning of a journey that will eventually, rightfully come to an end”?
