Last week, Pat and Chewie of BHN did a fun analysis of the spat between The Pratform and the BSA, and between Sean Plunkett and them;
I mostly agree with the distinctions they draw; they and John Campbell are "broadcasters", BHN and the Breakfast are "shows", and TVNZ is a "broadcasting company". So far, so good.
But here's where it gets... well... hairy. Which broadcasting company is accountable to the BSA for Big Hairy News?

The reason I ask is that Pat and Chewie are selling the BS gospel hard.
On Dec 9, they interviewed the COO of BlueSky, Rose Wang;As usual, the company spokesperson claims to be first to do everything, making no mention of the fediverse. No surprises there.
I was more surprised that they just talked it up as a Titter reboot, with not a single mention of decentralisation. I guess it doesn't resonate with anyone but geeks?

I didn't stop to transcribe the exact quote. But Hipkins said that when he gives interviews, his target audience is the person who voted Labour in 2020, but switched to the Nats in 2024;
I have thoughts.
First, this dogma clashes directly with his more nuanced comment earlier in the podcast. That the centre is *not* the space between the two biggest parties, but rather the space of the uncommitted voter.

The last news reports I've seen estimated 42,000. I'm pretty sure it was more than that. If it was 50,000, that's 1% of the population of this country.
I've been an activist for about 3 decades, and I'm struggling to l remember any campaign that escalated to anywhere near that size, in only a year.
