Biggie’s career skyrocketed after being discovered by Sean “Diddy” Combs, who signed him to Bad Boy Records in the early 1990s.

Tragicomedy is never unwelcome round here, and Biggie was a master of it. His reworking of "Hey Love" originally done by #TheDelfonics (arguably the best early 70s #falsetto R&B group) is as wickedly hilarious as it is sad/true. On this #BlackFriday, one day after we mark the 26th anniversary of the passing of the great Christopher Wallace (bka Biggie Smalls), an artist I never got to see live and photograph, I thought I'd dig out an old homage from 2011. It's a self-portrait taken, edited, and styled to resemble Biggie's appearance in the classic video for the remix of Craig Mack's "Flava In Ya Ear", one of my favourites. RIP to both men.
