Shopping on an industrial, inhuman scale and violence
Giant shopping centers and indoor malls are privately owned property that are far away and can only be reached by cars. They function as semi-public or quasi-public spaces and have giant car parks.
Who is ensuring the safety of staff and customers in these spaces of aggregation?* "Man accused of kicking two young boys at Canberra shopping centre... It is alleged the man approached the mother and the brothers, aged two and four, from behind, and kicked the children. One of the boys was left with a broken nose while the other was assessed for head injuries...Police said they have apologised to the family for not attending the incident." >>

34 per cent of members said they did not feel safe in their workplace
88 per cent experienced verbal abuse
25 per cent experienced physical violence
19 per cent experienced sexual harassment

Halloween trick-or-treating - a drive-through neighbourhood:
Spoiler: Driving and idling (fossil fuel combustion), plastic decoration, sugar 'treats' and traps for native wildlife.
Haunted by the spectre of climate disruption and the prospect of an uninhabitable biosphere they drive to event spaces turning neighbourhoods into drive-through (commercial) amusement parks for Halloween and Christmas.
* "People drive from miles and miles to participate in destination neighborhood festivities. The same kind of dynamic has long happened with Christmas.Halloween has gone from a primarily walking holiday to a driving holiday."
Where Have All the Trick-or-Treaters Gone on Halloween? Destination Neighborhoods >>
https://www.collegetowns.org/p/where-have-all-the-trick-or-treaters* "Research suggests about 30 percent of birds' nests may include human-made materials, posing a risk to nestlings. Halloween in Australia coincides with bird nesting season and birds are often looking for nesting material at this time of year, so there is the potential for these types of decorations to have a bigger impact here than in North America and Europe." >>

Eye-opening. Frustrating. Enraging.

I hate that I have to shop at Walmart sometimes, the destroyer of small town downtowns and local businesses. I hate that they had everything I had on my shopping list today. They had stuff my regular grocery store should carry but is always out of. And they carry the brand of precooked bacon my wife prefers.
