The weather on Thursday wasn't as fit for #inlineSkating as the forecast said late Wed night. Nevertheless #BigAppleRoll was on the #NYC streets for both the morning and evening #GroupSkate events.
The morning skate had at least 55 Strava users in the group according to our feed, suggesting there were likely more than 100 actual skaters.
Next up are the Friday morning skate and then the big big big Friday night skate. The latter had 600+ pparticipants last year.

Weather forecast isn't the best, but the group skates that look most in danger of being canceled due to rain are the pre-BAR speciai editions of the Tuesday and Wednesday night skates and the BAR Thursday morning skate.
The big Friday night skate and the Saturday megaskate look good to roll!

Big Apple Roll is over, and by all accounts it was a great success. Weather only messed with the Thursday night skate, and was beautiful for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday skates. The crowd attending the Friday Night Skate may well have been the biggest #GroupSkate in #NYC since the MS Super Roll was held so very long ago, and after it was over a large chunk of skaters headed over to Pier 76.

Big representation from Miami wearing matching garb, but we also saw club gear from Boston, DC. Houston, LA, Long Beach, and Portland (OR).

The Thursday evening Big Apple Roll skate did happen. Streets dried out and the event start was delayed a bit. But skaters ended up getting wet due to showers that began during the return half of the tour from Midtown to Downtown and back.

Sadly not much time to enjoy the beach as storms rolled in. Although the rain should be over and one before the planned Thursday evening skate, streets look to be too wet and slick except for the adventurous. We'll see.

BAR week has begun, and some skatouristas were already in town Monday for the first of the pre-BAR weekly group skates. We bumped into a couple of them at Pier 76 after they'd rolled the NJ MNS earlier in the evening.

Have you ever been skating along by yourself, then suddenly you were surrrounded by a group of 150 skaters zooming along, and you just wanted to be part of the crowd? We have!
#BigAppleRoll got in a 15-mile roll on Friday evening on mostly dry #NYC streets after delaying the #GroupSkate start til 8:30. They caught me up just before 11 as we all approached the après skate hangout venue.
Exciting!
Also, so good to get a big hug from Sarai and say hi to Rick, Sonic and others.

And if not, then maybe there will be dry streets later so that we can roll downtown and hook up with #NYC and visiting skaters at the after party.

Anyway, when it was over, we saved our Strava route. Then checked back later, and Strava says we were skating with 43 other people.
Which means there were 100 people who skated with us who were not using Strava. The monsters.
