  1. Back in the UK. Car collected from the meet and greet parking and we are en route home. This ends the vacation. #BGS_GC26

  2. Time to engage airplane mode. See you on the other side. #BGS_GC26

  3. We are on a plane. Next stop is Manchester and we should be taking off in 10 minutes. #BGS_GC26

  4. Our taxi driver was the same glam Spanish woman who picked us up when we arrived. She was lovely and wined us a safe journey, then asked when we’re coming back. We told her at the end of January and she said she’ll be waiting for us again. I almost burst into tears. Almost. Anyway, we’re waiting for our flight having done the new biometric registration thing which has come in. #BGS_GC26

  5. In the taxi and almost at the airport. Homeward bound and feeling ready to face reality. #BGS_GC26

  6. Taking a last mooch around the locale and stopped off for soft drinks at a place we came to on our first ever visit at the end of 2014. It sticks with us as there were Christmas decorations up as it was New Year, and that seemed so otherworldly; Santa’s face against the dunes and palm trees.

Anyway, we have a lot of history here which is good.

  7. Suitcase 99% packed. Time to shower and freshen up then I can pack the last few things. Checkout is midday, and we have a taxi to the airport booked for 13:30 as we fly at 16:10. Better get on with things! #BGS_GC26

  8. I’ll miss all of this but will carry it with me until we come back next year. *sighs* Happy/sad vibes but way more happy than sad. We have more adventures planned and this is only the start of the year. #BGS_GC26

  9. Slept well and am refreshed. The heating back home is gently warming the house so it should be cosy when we arrive around midnight tonight.

Time to get on with packing and organising so we can have a smooth getaway. After breakfast though, of course. #BGS_GC26

  10. We saw the sun set on our holiday. Cheers all; it’s been amazing. Thanks for joining the adventure via Mastodon. #BGS_GC26

  11. Time to get ready and head out for the last night in the bars. This time tomorrow we’ll be in the sky heading north and back home. *sighs* #BGS_GC26

  12. I remembered that before Christmas I planted loads of tulip and narcissus bulbs in pots at home. The prospect of them blooming makes the thought of going home tomorrow less unpleasant, which was one of the reasons why I planted them. Thanks past me, you’re a good guy. #BGS_GC26

  13. The ocean is beautiful, if a little cooler than I’d prefer. Nevertheless it’s good to bob about in the slow waves and feel part of something much bigger than me for a while.

  14. Said goodbye to Maite, the gorgeous Cuban lady who runs Kiosco 2, and she made us promise to come back and see her next year. Of course we shall! Now at Kiosco 3 and contemplating a swim. #BGS_GC26

  15. Sitting listening to Spanish music at Kiosco 2 and counting our blessings. Being able to visit this place every year is one of the greatest pleasures for us, and rest assured that I’ll be yearning for it after tomorrow. That said we are booking next year’s trip this week, so we’ll have that to look forward to.

For now we’d better make the most of what remains of this trip.

  16. We had a wonderful time catching up with Ruairi, Brian, and Rob at the beach. Ruairi is the Mancunian friend of the husband, his arty/designery partner Brian is Bolivian, and Rob is a Spanish 6ft plus man-mountain of a dancer. They’re all hugely funny and great company, and the afternoon has been an absolute hoot. What a perfect Sunday. #BGS_GC26

  17. While I was swimming yesterday I encountered a small blue jellyfish and took care to about it as I wasn’t certain how risky it was. Turns out it was a velella velella which is mostly harmless to humans, and it’s good to know that in case I meet any more of the little fellas! #BGS_GC26

  18. @GypsumFantastic It’s a truly amazing place. I can vouch for that fact. #BGS_GC26

  19. Anyhoo, we’re getting organised to mooch out and enjoy another day of sunshine and beaches. I need to fold this sunshine into my soul and carry it with me until summer returns to the UK. #BGS_GC26

  20. Taken a look at the camera feed from home and can see it’s not raining for the first time in the last 6 days when I’ve checked in. Yeah, not really into going back there if I’m honest. #BGS_GC26

  21. The husband has a chum who lived in Manchester but moved to Gran Canaria last year. We’re hoping to meet up at the beach today, which should be fun. I’ve met him only a couple of times so it’ll be nice to get to know him and his partner a bit, since the hubby thinks a lot of them.

  22. A night of unpleasant and troubling dreams, which isn’t what I wanted. Ah well, been and power walked 3km which seems to have got me back feeling good. And it’s another sunny day on this gorgeous island. Morning all! #BGS_GC26

  23. Second swim was extra splendid as the waves were bigger and had more attitude. I blummen love swimming in the ocean y’know. #BGS_GC26

  24. Taking a dip in the Atlantic is very refreshing. That said, we used to swim in the North Sea between March and October as kids when we had a caravan at the coast so this is a breeze. Might go back in there in a bit. #BGS_GC26

  25. Got my prescription sunglasses and Aphex Twin hat going on. Form an orderly queue lads. #BGS_GC26

  26. We are on the beach. This has been a wonderful vacation so far and while we’re mindful that it’ll end all too soon, we’re not going to let the spectre of returning home spoil these last few days. Oh no mama. Happy weekend to all who celebrate! #BGS_GC26

  27. I didn’t mention the rooftop terrace at our apartments. It’s pretty special. #BGS_GC26

  28. We’ve picked up the car from Tejeda and are heading back to Playa del Ingles to stock up on groceries and have a meal on our balcony. Today’s adventure was one we’d planned to do a few times before but it never came to fruition. We’re very pleased to have ticked it off the to do list.
