I believe @openrisk has it backwards when they say "The decades long stagnation created a huge surplus, a passive online information trove. The #techbros, always on the lookout, found an algorithmic way to plunder it."

The stagnation followed widespread poaching and plunder by #techbros.

Things were moving at a pretty impressive clip before then. Now both #SemanticWeb and #BasicFormalOntology or #BFO have stalled.
