I can see why people didn’t like Beyond the Black Rainbow but it spoke to me of psychonaut John Lilly and the world my head inhabited in the late 80s. That of course links it with Altered States and the works of Ken Russell, although Cosmatos and Russell are very different… John Lilly characteristically liked Altered States despite or perhaps because of its absurdity. I've been watching/rewatching horror movies to help put me in the creepy mood for Spooky Season.
#BeyondTheBlackRainbow is visually and sonically stunning. However, I will warn you that its ending makes me want to punch someone. That's all I'll say to that.
Other than that - AWESOME flick!
